In this paludarium, the dry portion is built up and ascends out of
the water. There are many ways to construct this. Styrofoam may be
carved into the disired shape, and rocks or gravel can be glued onto
the surface for a natural appearance. Alternatively, rocks may be
stacked or glued together to provide a shelf, or a cement/sand
mixture can be used to form a slope. These paludariums look very
natural, but may be difficult to maintain and to construct. The rock
shelf lends itself especially well to a
waterfall.
