Children:

1. RICHARD LONGHORNE/LANGHORNE

2. Thomas Longhorne, b. 1616-1617, in England, and died 6 May 1685 aged abt. 68 years according to his gravestone, but in his will of 24 Apr. 1685 he gives his age as 69 years old. Thomas, a butcher, resided in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., MA. He was the town drummer. In 1652 Thomas purchased the homestead of Simon Crosby who was the uncle by marriage of his sister-in-law Mary Crosby. This homestead was on the south corner of Brattle Street and Brattle Square in Cambridge. It is probably that he resided there for the rest of his life.

Thomas married Sarah Green in about 1646. Sarah was the daughter of Bartholomew Green. Thomas was co-executor of his brother Richard's Will along with his niece, Elizabeth Longhorne. Thomas was mentioned by the Widow Constance Crosby in a petition to the Ipswich Court 4:3:1674  concerning the guardianship of his niece Sarah Longhorne.

Richard Langhorne married MARY CROSBY on 16 Jan. 1647/48 in Rowley, MA.. Holme-on-Spaulding Moor, Yorkshire, Eng. and Rowley, MA. She was baptized o 4 Dec. 1629 in Holme-on-Spaulding Moor, York, Eng., d. 29 Dec. 1667 Rowley, Mass. She was the daughter of ROBERT CROSBY and CONSTANCE BRIGHAM of Holme.

In late December of 1667 a series of deaths in  the family, beginning with Richard's wife Mary, left only three, perhaps four, survivors a little over six months later. Richard's death and burial followed in less than a month and a half after that of his wife Mary. This left their six children orphans. However their two youngest children, and only remaining sons, Richard and Thomas were both dead within five months.

The eldest surviving daughter at the time of Richard's death was Elizabeth Langhorne, to whom he assigned a double portion in his Will of 10 Feb. 1668, and whom he appointed as co-executor of his Will along with his brother Thomas Langhorne of Cambridge.

CONSTANCE LANGHORNE, b. in Sep. 1652 in Rowley,  Essex Co., MA., and d. in 1714 in Newbury, Essex Co., MA.. Constance married. Jonathan Mooers of Newbury on 10 May 1680 in Rowley.

After the death of her father Constance, still a minor, along with her sisters Bethiah and Sarah, were assigned guardians by the court. From the Ipswich Quarterly Court Records, Vol; 5, p. 91 comes this entry - "Constance Longhorne made choice of Richard Thurlay (Thorley) as her Guardian, Mar. 30, 1669, who gave bond for the estate in his hands". Constance would have been sixteen years old at the time. It isn't known how long she resided with the Thorleys, but she didn't marry until she was 27 years old in 1680 and perhaps lived with them for all or most of that time. There would surely have been some contact between the two families even after her marriage since she resided in the neighboring town of Newbury, but after several generations that contact and even knowledge of the relationship between Constance Langhorne and the Thorley family was lost. For my direct family line however, there is at least one more interesting association and it occurred 274  years after Constance chose Richard Thorley as her guardian. In 1942, in  the town Gatineau, Province of Quebec, Canada, Constance Twitchell, a seven times great granddaughter of Constance Langhorne married Glen Lander, a nine times great grandson of Richard Thorley. They were my parents.
