Basic Combat Concepts
In this course of instruction and information, I have broken down my system into several
divisions. This first division is Basic Combat Concepts.
I have established few rules over the years, but the ones that I have established are extremely
important to me.
The First Rule is:
None of these Concepts will work unless each step of preparation and each concept is followed.
This Site lays out the Concepts including the Preparation for each Concept in the order which
I demand that my students learn them.
The Second Rule is:
Repetition is allowed only in conjunction with the Z words.
The Third Rule is:
All actual Training which is done with more than one person must be done at significantly reduced speed.
Speed is dangerous when using the techniques which I teach. Control is not a factor in this rule. Controls
exercised on real combat movements which depend upon the inertia of the opponent are self canceling. I am not
teaching Oriental Martial Arts, nor am I teaching SCA fighting or Stage Fighting. I am teaching proven Combat
Techniques. Speed is for the advanced trainee. Failure to reduce the speed of movements of the type which
I teach will result in broken bones.
Repetition in training is a false and completely unreal teaching
aid which has been perpetuated throughout Eastern Martial Arts for decades and has lost more fights
for Martial Artists than any other leading reason or cause.
