"Good-Bye Neo-Queen Serenity . . . Forever?"

Things You Must Know/Understand Before Reading:
The time period: In the 33rd century
What happened in previous stories: Neo-Queen Serenity, who has become immortal, has restored the kingdoms of the Silver Millennium, and Darien, also immortal, and her moved to the restored Moon Palace and Rini was given the throne of the Earth. With the original Senshi too old to fulfill their Sailor Scout duties, approximately 50 years old, they were made queens over their respective planets. However, shortly before this, Rini was sent on a quest by Bartholomew (see "The Full Story Finally Revealed") and achieved immortality. Since the original Senshi were out, their oldest daughters received the Sailor Powers.

Things were getting out of control. The death toll was astronomical. Sailor Solara was much too strong for the solar system. With the Neo-Senshi out looking for another shard of the Imperium Golden Crystal, Sailor Solara had the perfect opportunity to attack, and she did. The Solar Kingdoms didn't stand a chance. The Kingdom of Neptune and Uranus had already fallen. They were each devastated in fewer than two weeks. Sailor Uranus was killed and Sailor Neptune almost died, but the was able to teleport to the Moon Palace. She was alive, but in critical condition. Now the Kingdom of Saturn was under attack. It was apparent that Solara had become stronger than ever before. Something had to be done. Unfortunately, reinforcements could not be sent to Saturn because all the teleport pads had been destroyed. The remaining planets were put on Def-Com one, the highest possible. Bunkers were opened. Troops redistributed among the six remaining Solar Kingdoms. All planetary shields were pushed to maximum capacity, and the nine shards, that they had collected, of the Imperium Golden Crystal were launched into the far reaches of space, only to be retrieved by Neo-Queen Serenity (a.k.a. Queen Serena), Queen of all the Solar System, or Queen Rini, Queen of the Earth and the oldest daughter of Queen Serena and King Darien.
A few weeks later, Queen Serena received word that Saturn had fallen. The good news, in this, was that it took almost a month to fall. This was good news because it meant that Solara was weakening. Nonetheless, Saturn had fallen, the Queen of Saturn, formerly Sailor Saturn, was nowhere to be found, and Solara had moved on to attack Jupiter. Queen Serena had sent Sailor Chibi Moon (a.k.a. Queen Rini) and Sailor Chibi-Chibi Moon to help defend Jupiter, in hope that it would buy the Moon Kingdom, and other Planetary Kingdoms, some time.
A month and a half went by without any word from Jupiter.
"Damn those Neo-Senshi!" Serena shouts as she pounds her fists on the table in the war room of the Moon Palace as she thinks about what to do about their current situation. She then gets up and goes to the window and looks out.
"Come on, Honey," Darien says as he moves to her side. "It's not their fault that Solara is attacking."
"I know," she sighs. "Luna!" she calls. A few moments later, the talking black cat walks into the room.
   "You called, Serena?" she asks.
"Yes. I would like you to get the cryostasis team on stand-by, ready to move at a moments notice," Serena says.
"As you wish," Luna replies. Then she leaves.
"What was that for?" Darien asks Serena.
"I just have a bad feeling," Serena explains as she turns and continues to gaze out at the crystal clear night sky. Darien is still standing next to her and he just stares at her. Then she tells him. "Honey?"
   "Yes dear?" Darien answers.
"Do you remember last night, when I woke up screaming and crying, and I told you it was just a bad dream?" she asks as her eyes gloss over, her voice laden with pain.
   "Yes."
"Well, it was a dream about when my mother, Queen Serenity, used the Imperium Silver Crystal and sacrificed her life, just to give the rest of us a chance at a peaceful future. Only it wasn't Queen Serenity. It was me. I'm afraid that I must sacrifice myself in order to save the universe," she says turns around and buries her head in Darien's shoulder and begins to cry uncontrollably.
"What makes you think that?" Darien asks as he puts his arms around her.
"I do believe that it was Queen Serenity's last visit to Queen Serena," answers Luna, who has entered the room. Serena, who is still crying, nods her head.
"Thank you, Luna. Will you please excuse us?" requests Darien.
"As you wish, my king," answers Luna as she walks out.
"You know you don't have to do anything you don't want to," Darien says to Serena, who has stopped crying and is just enjoying having Darien hold her.
"I'm O.K. with sacrificing myself," Serena explains. "Its just that I…I don't know if I'll ever see you again," she says as she starts to whimper.
"Of course we'll see each other again, no matter what I have to do. I promise."
   "Really?" she sniffs.
"Yes, real--" His sentence is cut short.
At that moment, Sailor Chibi Moon, Sailor Chibi-Chibi Moon and 55 year-old Queen Lita, Queen of Jupiter and formerly Sailor Jupiter, teleport into the room. Lita is out on the floor, unconscious, with the Moon Crystal Key around her neck. A second later, Sailor Chibi-Chibi Moon collapses on the floor. Sailor Chibi Moon appears to stumble back against the wall. She is facing Darien and Serena, and is breathing heavily. She steadies herself against the wall and remains standing.
"Get the medical team in here, on the double!" Serena shouts.
Moments later, the team rushes in and checks Sailor Chibi-Chibi Moon and Lita out. Lita is soaked in blood and her arms are covered in lacerations. Sailor Chibi-Chibi Moon's uniform is ripped all over. She has a nasty gash on her forehead, a black eye, a fair amount of lacerations, and a very swollen left ankle. They put Lita and Sailor Chibi-Chibi Moon on stretchers and rush them out. As the go out, the cryostasis team takes the clothes off of them so they can under go instant cryostasis.
"What happened?" Serena asks Chibi Moon.
Sailor Chibi Moon's uniform is in shreds and she has minor cuts all over the front of her. Since arriving, her breathing has only gotten heavier.
"Well," she swallows hard, "Sailor Solara broke through the palace shields and attacked Lita and I, while one of her servants attacked Chibi-Chibi Moon. Lita was hit hard and so was Chibi-Chibi Moon. The three of us had no choice but to retreat. I had to carry Lita; she was hit so hard. When we couldn't go any further, we stopped. Sailor Chibi-Chibi Moon was barely able to stand and Lita was unconscious, so I put the Moon Crystal Key around her neck. Then teleported back to…"
She isn't able to finish. Her eyes roll up and she collapses to her knees and then falls on her face. The place on the wall that she was leaning against is stained with blood. The back of her uniform is drenched in blood and she has a nasty gash spanning from her left shoulder blade down through about half of her back.
"Rini!" Serena shouts as she and Darien rush to her side.
Serena gets there first and quickly sits down, turns Rini over, and rests Rini's head on her lap as Darien rushes out to get the medical team. Serena then starts to caress Rini's hair back and quietly talks to her, trying not to cry.
"Rini? Talk to me, precious. It's mommy." Rini gives no response. Serena can't stand it anymore and begins to cry.
"Why did you have to be so brave and proud?" she sobs. "You should have told us that you were injured. Oh, Rini." Then Rini stops breathing. "Rini? RINI!!!" she shouts as Darien finally returns with the medical team. The team picks up Rini and puts her on a stretcher and begin CPR as they rush her out. She area, on Serena's dress where Rini was laying is stained with blood. Darien puts an arm around Serena's shoulders. She is trembling with fear, anger, and hate. Her eyes show that her soul is crying out for vengeance.
   "Honey?" Darien asks meekly.
"I swear that Solara will pay for hurting my two, precious girls, and for hurting Lita, and for everything else she has done," Serena vowels out loud. "Vengeance will be mine. Darien, summon Sailor Pluto for me," she says as she storms out of the room. "And have someone clean the floor, but leave the wall alone." Darien is left alone.
   "Luna!" he calls out.
"Yes, my King," she says as she enters the room.
"I assume you heard the queen, right?"
   "Yes."
"Would you please take care of it?"
"As you wish," she says and then walks out, leaving Darien alone once more.
"BARTHOLOMEW!" he shouts, when he is certain that he is alone. Then Bartholomew appears.
   "Yes, Darien?"
   "I thought Rini was immortal."
"She is, just as immortal as you and Serena."
"Well, then why did her heart stop just a few moments ago?"
"Because her body needed to repair itself from the serious wounds, so she went into a state of suspended animation, her own form of cryostasis, if you will. She wasn't `dead', she just merely appeared that way."
"Oh, I see. Thank you and sorry to have bothered you," Darien says. Then Bartholomew vanishes.
A few moments later, Sailor Pluto appears followed by Luna.
"You wanted to see me?" she asks.
"Actually, Serena wanted to see you," Darien says. "Luna, will you please go get Serena."
"As you wish," Luna says and then leaves.
"As you may know," Darien says to Pluto, "Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter have all fallen at the hands of Solara."
"I wasn't aware that Jupiter fell."
"Well, it did," Serena says as she enters the room. She has changed her dress and let her hair down. "Now Lita and my daughter, Sailor Chibi-Chibi Moon, are in cryostasis, and Rini almost died. The blood on the wall and floor came from her."
"I am truly sorry to hear that," Pluto says.
"Thank you," says Serena. "Darien, will you please excuse us? I must talk to Sailor Pluto, alone."
"Sure," he says. He gives a quick bow to Pluto, who returns the favor, and leaves.
"Now, Pluto, due to the position of Mars, Solara's next target will be the Moon, but first she must get through the asteroid belt. With our fortifications in the belt, I believe that it will take at least three weeks for her to get through. Now, I believe that the only chance for us to stop her is to personally force her into another dimension. I know that this means that I might have to sacrifice myself, but, for the sake of the solar system and the universe, I believe that this is a chance that I need to take"
"Very well, but how can I help?"
"I will need your help to open a dimensional warp."
"I'm afraid that the Key of Time cannot do such a task."
"Yes, I am well aware of that, but I believe that, with the power of the Silver Crystal, it is possible."
"Correct, Serena," says Bartholomew, who has suddenly appeared.
   "Greetings, Bartholomew," Sailor Pluto.
   "Hello, Pluto. Hello, Serena."
   "Hello, Bartholomew."
"Sailor Pluto," says Bartholomew, "when I made the Key of time, I made it so that it could have near infinite power. Using it with the Copper Crystal gives it no advantages because it is a weaker crystal than the Bronze, which is in the Key of Time. The Silver Crystal gives it power over time, space, and dimensions. The Golden Crystal has power over time, space, and teleportation between universes. The Hyper Crystal has power over time, space, and life, and the Master Crystal has power over all of the above."
"To open a dimensional warp, place the Silver Crystal between the teeth of the Key, spin the Key over your head and say `Imperium Dimensional Shift'. To close it, hold the Key in front of you and say `Close shift'. Make sure that the Silver Crystal does not accidentally fall out during this, for if it did, the warp would consume the entire universe." He then turns to Serena.
"I cannot tell you what will happen, but you will need this." He snaps his finger and on Serena's left ring finger, a skinny ring appears. It is a little four-pointed shield with a gold crescent moon in the middle. "This, with the help of your energy amplification power, will create and impenetrable energy shield." Then he snaps his fingers again. "Now Rini has one because she too will need it. To use it, use your energy amplification power and say `Crescent Moon Shield'. Please tell Rini this," and with that, he disappears.
"Well, there you have it. So, will you help me?"
   "Of course, Queen Serena."
   "Thank you."
"You're quite welcome," and with that Sailor Pluto vanishes. Serena goes to the window as the cleaning crew enters the room.
"Just clean the floor," she tells the crew as she looks out, "but leave the wall alone." When they finish, they leave. A few minutes after they leave, she sees a bright flash come from the planet Jupiter. She then starts to cry.
That night, Serena can't sleep. She decides to check on Lita and her daughters. The medical teams had been working on them all day and finally finished with Lita and Chibi-Chibi and took them out of cryostasis less than an hour ago. They were in comas and in critical, but stable condition.
Seeing her best friend, unconscious and covered in stitches, pained her, but seeing her daughter, Chibi-Chibi, unconscious, her foot in a cast, stitches on her forehead and other places, and her right eye covered with a patch, just shattered her heart. She stayed only for a few minutes, then she went to go check on Rini. When she got to the room, she saw something that she never expected. She found Rini, not only standing up, but apparently training herself.
"What the heck are you doing?" Serena exclaims. "Are you out of your mind? You could tear your stitches!"
"I don't have any stitches," Rini explains as she turns her back to her mother. Because Rini is wearing a hospital gown, Serena can clearly see that the gash has completely healed and there was no sign of a scar.
"Unbelievable," says Serena as Rini turns back around.
"I know. The amazing thing is that the doctors pretty much did nothing. They did CPR on me for about 15 minutes, the my heart started beating and I continued breathing on my own. By that time, all my wounds scabbed over. Although I was in a coma, the doctors couldn't see anything else that they could do for me, so they put me in here, the ICU. From then until about 25 minutes ago, I was in a coma. Even though I was in a coma, I still felt pain. The whole time, my body was healing it wounds as fast as possible, causing me severe pain. Somehow, I wasn't surprised, like it had happened before. Any ways, once I woke up, I check body over and started training."
   "Amazing."
   "Told ya'."
"So you did. Can I see your left hand?" Serena asks, holding her right hand out, palm up.
"Sure," Rini replies as she puts her left hand into her mothers right hand. Serena then places her left hand next to Rini's and compares the rings that Bartholomew gave them. They are identical, except that Serena's is pure gold and Rini's is pure silver. Rini finally notices the ring on her finger.
   "Where did that come from?"
   "It's a gift from Bartholomew."
   "What's it for?"
"When used with your energy amplification power, it creates an impenetrable energy shield. With your energy amplification power, say `Moon Crescent Shield'," Serena explains.
   "Kool!"
Serena walks over to the bed and sits down.
"Honey," she says, "sit down. There is something very important that I need to tell you."
"Alright," Rini says as she walks to the bed and sits down. "What is it?"
"Well," Serena says as she wets her lips, "I don't really know how to put this, so I'll tell it to you straight. Solara is going to attack the Moon Palace next. When she does, I'll be going away for a while. I'm not even sure if I'll be coming back."
   "Why?" Rini asks.
"To save the solar system and perhaps the universe, I must personally force Solara into another dimension, which means that I have to follow her into a dimensional warp that Sailor Pluto has agreed to open. Once in, I'll have only a few seconds to get out before it closes. Bartholomew and your Father have agreed to work together to find a way to bring me back, should I not make it."
"Why are you telling me this now?"
"If I don't make it, your Father will leave the Moon, and probably the solar system, leaving the Moon Kingdom without a high ruler, and the Sailor Senshi without a leader. I'm afraid that this is not acceptable. I want you to rule in my and your Father's absence. I will give you the Moon Crystal Locket before I go and Pluto will give you the Imperium Silver Crystal once the warp is closed. You will have to move to the Moon Palace, and I want you to give the throne of the earth to your sister, Sailor Chibi-Chibi Moon."
"Alright," is all Rini can manage to say.
"Now, about you not telling us about your wound. Normally I would have majorly grounded you, but since you saved your sister and Lita, I'll let it slide." She gets up and starts out the room, but stops and turns around. "One more thing. Swallow your pride before it destroys you. I love you, precious, and I don't want to lose you."
"I love you too, Mother. I'll try to change, I promise."
"Thanks, Rini. Now go back to training and try to get some rest." Then Serena leaves and Rini goes back to training.
Two weeks past. Serena is sitting on the balcony, watching the Sunday sunset. Less than seven days until Solara attacks. Serena gets up and heads inside. Once inside the room, the Neo-Senshi teleport into the room, talking to each other in a murmur. Serena clears her throat and all of the Senshi stop talking, face her, and bow.
   "Hello, Queen Serena," Neo-Mercury says.
"Hello, Senshi," she replies. She then notices that the Senshi are standing in a circle around someone. "Who have you brought?" she asks.
"Well," begins Neo-Jupiter, "this is a member of Solara's personal ninja force."
All the Senshi step away and the stranger looks up and straight a Serena.
"Tell me, stranger, what is your name?" Serena asks.
"What?!" the stranger exclaims, looking shocked. "You mean to tell me that you don't recognize your own little brother? What a meatball head."
"What are you talking about?" She then takes a deep, hard look into the stranger's brown eyes. "Sammy? Is that really you?"
"Yes!" he says as he jumps up and runs to her, and she runs to him. They meet in an embrace and both begin to weep.
"I've missed you so much, Serena," Sammy cries.
"And I missed you, too. I thought you died over a thousand years ago. What happened to you?"
"It's a long story. I'll tell you later," he says as he wipes away her tears. Then he steps to her side and she sees the Senshi again.
"Oh, right," she mutters to herself and clears her throat. "I must thank you for bringing my brother back to me. Unfortunately, I have some tragic news. While you were gone, Sailor Solara attacked. All the outer Kingdoms have been demolished." At this, all the Senshi begin to murmur among themselves. "Please, that is not all." The Senshi stop and listen. "Thank you. Sailor Neptune and Sailor Jupiter, your mothers are in the infirmary. Sailor Saturn, I'm afraid that your mother is missing. Sailor Uranus, I'm deeply sorry, but your mother is dead."
"No," Sailor Uranus gasps and then begins to cry. All of the Senshi, except for Saturn, rush to her to comfort her and help her out.
When Saturn, Sammy, and Serena are alone, Saturn walks up to Serena, who, with Sammy, has gone back to watch the sunset.
"The sunset sure is beautiful, isn't it?" Serena asks Saturn.
"Yeah, I guess," Saturn answers, emotionless.
"Tell me, what happened to the communicator you guys took?"
"On our way to get the shard, we were attacked, on Pluto, by a entire legion of Solara's personal ninjas. It was damaged in the battle that ensued and Mercury wasn't able to fix it."
"So that's why you didn't answer. Did you retrieve the shard?"
"Yes." She pulls, out of her boot, a beautiful amber colored gem.
   "It's beautiful. Where was it?"
   "On Haley's Comet."
"You mean it had its own atmosphere?"
"Until we retrieved the shard, then it started breaking up."
"Interesting," says Serena. "Rini," she calls.
"Your daughter is here?" Saturn asks.
   "Daughter?" Sammy quickly pipes in.
"Yes. You have met her before. She was almost killed trying to save Jupiter, along with Lita and my other daughter, Chibi-Chibi. Rini was severely cut up and her heart actually stopped. The amazing things are that she has already recovered and she doesn't have any scars."
Then Rini enters the room and steps onto the balcony.
"You called, Mother?" she asks as she steps onto the balcony. Then she notices Saturn. "Hello, Saturn," she says with a quick bow.
"Good evening, Princess," Saturn replies as she returns the bow.
"She will soon be your Queen," Serena quickly adds.
"What do you mean," Saturn asks Serena.
"Rini will explain it to you and I want you to explain it to the others."
   "Okay," Saturn replies.
"Rini, would you take this shard and launch it into space. You know the protocols to use, right?" Serena asks.
"Of course, Mother," Rini answers with a hint of impatience.
Serena hands her the shard and then Rini and Saturn start out, but Saturn stops Rini and turns back to Serena.
"One more thing, before I go," she says.
"It's about your mother, isn't it?" Serena asks.
   "How did you know?"
"Common sense. Don't worry. Bartholomew is out looking for her as we speak."
"Thank you, Serena," Saturn says. Then Saturn and Rini leave.
"Wasn't that our cousin Rini?" Sammy asks Serena.
"Sort of. She is my oldest daughter, Rini. Have a seat. I have quite a long story to tell you and I want you to hear it."
She and Sammy sit on a bench on the Balcony. Serena then tells him about how she was Sailor Moon, about the Imperium Silver Crystal, about Darien being Tuxedo Mask, how Ami, Mina, Rei, and Lita were Sailor Senshi, how Rini came from the future in search of the Silver Crystal, about the Nega Moon family, the Doom Phantom, Wicked Lady, the three outer Senshi, Sailor Pluto, Bartholomew, Sailor Solara's connection with the Negaverse. She tells him about the Earth being devastated by catastrophic events, how she became Neo-Queen Serenity and restored the Earth, how she had Rini, how she restored the planetary kingdoms, about the Golden Crystal, and about the recent near-death of Rini.
"Wow," Sammy says. "So, cousin Rini isn't our cousin at all. That was only brain washing."
   "Right."
"But, she is my niece, right?"
   "Exactly."
   "Wow," he says again.
"Ah, well. Now tell me your story."
"Yeah. Well," he pauses and looks at the sky, "perhaps we should go in, and I'm sure you must be pretty thirsty."
   "Actually, I am."
Once inside, and after they get something to drink, they have a seat at the dinning table and Sammy begin tells his story to his sister. He told her about how Solara wanted to get someone close to Sailor Moon, preferably a relative of the future throne. Since she found out Serena was Sailor Moon, she had their parents killed and kidnapped Sammy. (The death of their parents and the kidnapping of Sammy took Sailor Moon out of commission for quite a while, and without their leader, the Sailor Senshi were nearly destroyed). He told her about how Solara turned him immortal and brainwashed him, and how the brainwashing worked until he saw the uniforms of the Neo-Senshi.
"Unbelievable," Serena says once he finishes. "Anyway, since you are my brother, you have the royal blood of the Moon Kingdom. As such, you need the Lunate Ring," she says as she holds out her right hand. On the ring finger is her engagement ring and wedding band, but on her middle finger is a beautiful ring with a golden band, a moderate sized diamond, and a golden lunate on the diamond. "You get to pick the gem you want."
"How about a blazing blue sapphire?"
   "Sure," she says.
   Then she calls for Luna.
   "Luna!"
"Yes?" Luna answers as she enters the room, appearing in her human form.
"Luna!" Sammy shouts as she runs towards her, but suddenly stops in his tracks. "Luna?"
"Who are you?" Luna asks as she take a defensive position.
"Luna," says Serena, "this is Sammy, my brother, as you remember, I hope."
"What, but Sammy died," she says. Then she looks into her eyes. "My word," she gasps, "it is you!"
Luna runs up and gives him a big hug.
"Luna," says Serena after they finish embracing, "can you have the royal jeweler make him a Lunate Ring with a--"
   "Blazing blue sapphire," Sammy finished.
"Right away," Luna says right before she ran off.
Then Sammy yawns. "Oh boy. Am I beat."
Serena looks at the clock. It's a little past midnight. "Oh, forgive me. Darien!" she calls.
"You mean he is still alive?"
"Oh yes, quite. Darien, Rini, and I are all immortal."
"Yes, honey?" Darien asks as he enters the room. "Hello, Sammy," as he holds out his hand. Sammy takes it.
"How did you know it was me?" Sammy asks.
   "Luna told me."
   "Oh."
"Darien," Serena says, "will you show Sammy to his room?"
"Sure, follow me." They both leave. Then Serena leaves to go to bed herself. Before Darien and her fall asleep, she tells him Sammy's story. Then they fall asleep.
The vision Serena had in her dreams were horrid. She woke up with a blood curdling scream, and began to weep so violently, she was having convulsions.
"What wrong, honey?" Darien asks as he looks at the clock. It says it's 2:47 in the morning.
Serena can't answer his question because she is unable to stop crying. Then, without warning, Sammy comes bursting into the room. Behind him is Rini, both out of breath.
"What's wrong? Is she alright?" they huff in unison.
"I don't know," replies Darien, as he holds her. "She hasn't stopped crying."
She continues to cry for another twenty minutes. By the time she starts to regain her composure, Sammy and Rini have taken a seat on the bed. When she is finally able to speak, she tells the three of them about the images in her dream.
"I was standing in the middle of nowhere," she begins. "I was surrounded by piles of rubble. There was rubble as far as the eye can see. In front of me was the remains of what looked like a fountain. The structure itself was in a decrepit state, but the plaque on the bottom was readable, barely. It was the fountain in the courtyard. The rubble around me was that of the Moon Palace, and practically everything else on the Moon. The Moon was taken over, wait, the Moon was all but destroyed."
"There wasn't a single live soul to be found. However, there were numerous skeletons all over. Back at the Palace, I found the skeleton of a child. On its chest was the locket of Chibi-Chibi Moon. Around her were the skeletons of all the other Sailor Senshi, except for you, Rini. I could tell it was them only by their power sticks. You or your skeleton were not there."
"Then somehow I was taken to Earth. The surface was totally unrecognizable. Each continent had been broken up into nearly a thousand islands. The Crystal Palace was one giant Black Crystal. They basement had been converted into a dungeon. In it was a sight that shattered my heart. The three of you were there, being tortured. You were all very gaunt. There were scars all over your bodies. That was when I woke up screaming."
"Unfortunately, that wasn't all of it. I saw Sailor Solara wearing my crown and rolling the Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Hyper Crystals around in her hand. All those who lived had become her slaves. That was when I started to cry," she said as she started to lose her composure and start to cry. "Please, leave me."
Sammy and Rini sullenly went back to their rooms while Darien went to one of the spare rooms in the Palace. Serena wasn't able to go back to sleep. She decided to sit with her younger daughter, Chibi-Chibi, who was still in a coma. She was eventually able to get some sleep.
The next day, Monday, brought dismal news. The announcement came during lunch, when Luna came running into the dinning hall.
"Your majesty," she says, out of breath.
"What is it, Luna," asks Serena.
"I just got word that Solara broke through the asteroid belt! She will arrive sometime on Friday."
A chill passes through Sammy, Darien, Serena, and Rini.
"Thank you, Luna," replies Serena, uneasily.
The rest of lunch passed in silence.
That evening, Bartholomew appeared to Darien and Serena. He told them to be wary of Solara because she is a shape-shifter. He also gave Darien and Serena two new weapons. To Darien, he gave the Sword of Truth. None of Solara's minions could block it. To Serena, the Dagger of Honesty, a small version of the Sword of Truth.
In the next few nights, no one slept well. There was a bit of good news. Chibi-Chibi woke up from her coma. However, this was nothing compared to the great tragedy that was about to occur.
Inevitably, Friday arrived. All the Lunar Guard and the Neo-Sailor Senshi were gathered outside the Palace, ready to fight. For the battle, Sailor Moon used her Moon Crystal Locket to transform.
"Incoming projectile," announced the Palace defensive computer. "Impact in: five, four, three, two, one."
Then, instantly, the Palace shields crystallized.
"What the. . ." Darien said.
Without warning, the Shields shattered. Shards went flying everywhere, cutting up a number of the Lunar Guard. Then hundreds of Solara's minions appeared. About half of the group went for Sailor Moon, Sailor Chibi Moon, and Tuxedo Mask, while the others targeted the others, especially the Sailor Senshi. Fortunately, Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon had their shield rings to protect them and Tuxedo Mask had his cape.
More and more minions appeared, until they out numbered the Lunar Guard and Sailors by about two to one, and Sailor Moon, Chibi Moon, and Tuxedo Mask by about five to one. Finally, Sailor Solara appeared in her Sailor form. Standard white for the body, a black skirt, black bows, black scarf, and a black choker with a scull where Sailor Moon has her golden crescent.
Solara, alone, took out most of the Lunar Guard with her energy blasts. When she felt she'd done sufficient damage to the Lunar Guard, she fired a powerful energy blast at Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon was barely able to dodge it. The blast totally leveled the right wing of the Palace. This infuriated the both of them.
Then Solara saw that Rini was preoccupied by some of her minions. As soon as Rini finishes them off, Solara fires a blast at her. Rini was caught completely off guard. The blast knocked her back about a hundred feet and knocked her unconscious.
"Rini!" shouts Sailor Moon as Darien rushes to her side. He quickly checks Rini over as she starts to come to. Darien then gives Sailor Moon the thumbs up.
"That's t    he last straw," Sailor Moon says to Solara.
"Do you honestly think you can actually defeat me?" Solara replies.
"I don't see why not. I'll just defeat you like I did your flunkies."
"They were a bunch of weak, incompetent fools. Just because you are an immortal doesn't mean you can't be killed, it just means that you can't die naturally or age. You have been a form in my side for too long, Moon wretch. Ever since Queen Topaz you have managed to elude me. I must commend you for defeating the Doom Phantom. He was my most competent and powerful minion, but it is time for me to finish you, once and for all!" With that Solara transforms into a huge, hideous dragon. "It ends now!" roars the dragon. Then it makes a lunge for Sailor Moon.
"You got that right. One way or another," Sailor Moon says under her breath.
She easily dodges the dragon's snout with a graceful back flip. In midair, she pulls the Dagger of Honesty out of her boot and brings it down into the snout and pulls the dagger towards her. The wound is deep. The dragon recoils with an ear shattering screech.
With Solara blinded by pain, Sailor Moon takes the Silver Crystal out of her locket and throws to Sailor Pluto. Sailor Pluto takes it and starts to open a dimensional shift behind the dragon. By this time, the dragon has regained her composure, and Darien has sneaked behind her and he draws the Sword of Truth. Sailor Moon throws the Dagger into the ground and clutches her locket
"You'll pay for that, you wret--"
Before Solara could finish her sentence, she lets out another ear shattering shriek. Darien had cut off the tail of the dragon. The dragon stands upright and then goes down on one knee. The pain is too much for Solara to bear and retain her form. She transforms back to her Sailor form, still on one knee. The lone tail vanishes in a plume of black vapor.
Sailor Moon yanks the locket off of her chest and throws it at Rini, who catches it. As soon as it leaves her hand, Sailor Moon starts to transform back into Neo-Queen Serenity. As she's transforming back, Serena charges at Solara. The impact knocked the wind out of Solara.
"I love you! All of you!" Serena shouts as she enters the warp with Solara.
Sailor Pluto immediately begins to close the warp. Smaller and smaller it gets, until it is completely closed, trapping the two inside, until Rini and the other Senshi are powerful enough to defeat Solara.
The few moments of silence seems like an eternity for all those who are present. It ends when Rini falls down to her knees and screams and starts to cry. All the Senshi surround her and comfort her. Then Sailor Pluto comes forward.
"Here, your majesty," she says as she bows and hands Rini the Imperium Silver Crystal.
"Thank you," Rini replies as she takes it and dries her tears.
She proceeds to place the crystal in the locket. Once it is in place, it begins to glow and cause the entire locket to vibrate. Then, all of the sudden, a bright beam erupts from the crystal, knocking down all those who are around the locket.
