Searching for the ancestors and descendants of  Hillyard Hicks was born on 26 Dec 1791 in N.C. or Virginia. He died on 7 Jan 1878 in Chico,Butte Co. California  He was married to an Unknown Ledsinger/Letsinger.Death date unknown.

Unknown Ledsinger\Letsinger died before 1854. Hillyard Hicks and Unknown Ledsinger\Letsinger had the following children:   UNKNOWN HICKS was born in 1815. She died in DIED YOUNG TWIN.

Hillyard Hicks  was married to#2 Marissa Osbone on 26 Dec 1835 in Greene Co. Indiana. Marissa Osbone was born in 1803 in KENTUCKY. She died UNKNOWN.

Hillyard Hicks was married to #3 Caroline Carson (daughter of UNKNOWN CARSON).Caroline was a widow of John Kirk when she married Hillyard Hicks in 1854. Caroline Carson was born in 1813 in DICKSON, TENN.. She died on 2 Aug 1888 in CHICO, BUTTE CO.CA.

Hillyard Hicks and Caroline Carson had one Child: Margaret Emma Hicks.  I would love to contact anyone that might be related to any of the above children and find the parents of Hillyard.  Thanks for your interest.

Am seeking William Hicks b. 1796, North Carolina., married possibly 1825, and died after 1850. He married Eliza who was born 1805, North Carolina,and d. after 1860. William and Eliza both thought to have died in Blount Co, Tenn. The oddity is that William was deaf, and produced children who were deaf. Only 2 were hearing, the first 4 were born in NC, and the rest in Tenn.

William and Eliza's 2 hearing children were (1)Nancy, who married John (Jack) Brown, and was raised by the James family, not the Hicks. I believe she was raised by the James, who were an allied family, because she was a hearing person, in a deaf home. She was one of the younger children of the family. (2) James D. Hicks, who married Sarah E. Wright.

James was born June 9, 1833, Tenn, and d. June 17, 1908, Blount Co, Tenn. He married Sarah Oct 313, 1854. They produced William Isaac Hicks Oct 3, 1870, Blount Co, Tenn, who married Mary Maude Lebow, July 16, 1889, Blount Co, Tenn. William is my husband's grandfather.

I have got some exciting news! I have learned more about my husband's Hicks. I never thought I would with the deaf gene, but I have.

William Hicks married Elizabeth DUNNAWAY 1825, Caswell Co, NC. They had several children in NC, and then migrated to Tenn. I believe they were in Monroe Co first, and then in Blount Co, in the 1850 census.  Elizabeth had a sister Nancy Aneway Dunnaway who married Elijah H. PASS  1820, Person Co, and migrated to Tenn also. Nancy's daugther Rosa H.(Rose) Pass married her cousin, son of William and Elizabeth Hicks.

His name was Lans Hicks, but their marriage license 1853, Blount Co, gives his name as Lancin. I have been looking right at them all these years and haven't been able to see them.

To complicate life even more, Lans and Rosa had a son William Russell Hicks, who married his cousin Mary Ellen Pass, in Morgan Co, Tenn. in 1884. She was the daughter of Russell Ramsey Pass and Margary Matilda Taylor. Would you know of any other previous Hicks researchers who have Pass or Dunnaway/ Dunaway marriages in their family tree?

His son John Henson was born 23 May 1821 in McMinn Co. TN. Richard was in Knox Co. TN 1826 & 1827; McMinn Co. TN 1829 thru 1832; Knox Co. TN 1836 thru 1838; Anderson Co. I am David Hicks and I am searching the Hicks line in Va. as well, I am stuck in 1793-95 with the birth of Elias Hicks in Russell County Va.

There is a lot of thought that his father was Nathaniel Hicks that was living  in Russell County at that Time.

I grew in KY with the tale that the Hicks line started in or Around Jamestown, VA, there are tax records that show a Baptist Hicks there in 1607 and a Baptist and William Hicks there in 1611.

Can you shed in light of the connection to Elias Hicks.

My grandfather - Henry Herbert Hicks - moved to Canada shortly after he trained with the RAF in World

War I. I was told by my grandmother that he came from a family of  shipbuilders in England. Apparently his father and grandfather both worked as shipbuilders. My parents may know further information and I'll have to  see

The only HIX listed is Nancy HIX b.6 Nov 1743, Albermarle, Virginia. Died about 1800, Jackson, GA, married Samuel L. Haggard abt 1767, Surray,  NC. he was born 1749/1750, Albermarle Co, Virginia, died 3 Jan 1811, Jackson, GA.  There is nothing further about her family, other than their children, their son, James Haggard is I believe my line.

Am searching for information regarding my ancestor HICKS, Nancy Jane.

She was born before 1836, reportedly at Beaver Creek, Alphoretta, Floyd Co, KY.

She married at Floyd Co, KY, 21 April 1859, STEPHENS, Reuben M. (b Alphoretta, KY, 25 Dec 1832; d probably Floyd Co, KY, 1886), a son of Samuel Albert Stephens Sr and Florence Patton. Reuben M. Stephens was reportedly a  captain in the Union Army during the Civil War; Nancy Jane Hicks was reportedly half Indian or more.

I have hit a brick wall for several years!!!! I am trying to find any info I can regarding a Martha P. Hicks b. 12-1-1829, m 5-11-1845 to John J. Tate, d 12-13-1896. She was my ggrandmother. She and John lived in Grundy

Although I am not a Hicks descendant, I am seeking information about Richard Hicks, my ggg grandmother's first husband.

Richard was born in 1774 in what is now Kershaw County, South Carolina (then Camden...?) He married Zilphia Brake around 1800 and they had 6 children. According to researchers, Richard was killed at the Battle of New Orleans in 1815. We are trying to find out the names of the couple's six children. Does anyone have any information?

I am looking for the birthplace and ancestry of Eliza Hicks, wife of  John Shriner, mother of Eliza Ann Shriner born at Fayette, Seneca Co. NY,  Sept. 23, 1815.

This information comes from page 966, in the Biographical Sketches in a  Seneca Co., Ohio, History book,
"The History of Seneca Co. Ohio", by Warner, Beers & Co. (1069 Pages), pub. 1886. See quote below.

" ... Andrew SANFORD was married, January 14, 1836, to Eliza Ann SHRINER, born at Fayette,
Seneca Co. NY, Sept. 23, 1815, dau. of John and Eliza ( HICKS ) SHRINER,
who moved from NY to Seneca Co. OH in July 1834, the former was a son of John and Johannah ( LOW ) SHRINER". They raised a family of eight children.

Eliza Ann Shriner is my gggrandmother. Some people believe this Eliza Hicks was born in VT October 02, 1794 to John Hicks and Elizabeth Butts.

However, it is well documented that she bore a number of children with another husband in the time frame she would have to have been with John Shriner.
