Once your Vertical Watch Program is established, hold an open house. It's a great way to acquaint residents with the program and attract additional members. Make it fun: colouring contests for the kids, etc. Open houses are another opportunity to raise funds. Ask local suppliers to donate hot dogs, buns, coffee, donuts, etc. In exchange for the food and refreshments, ask visitors to make a voluntary donation to the program support fund. Be sure and have enough toppings on hand for the hot dogs, likewise with cups, cream, sugar, etc. for the coffee/tea. Make a point of recognizing through signs and announcements the sources of any donations you receive from local suppliers. Create interest through posters in the building and in neighbourhood stores and community centres. Don't forget to notify the local press well in advance. If there is a residents' newsletter, use it to publicize the event and to ask for volunteers to help run it.

Surveys:   Conduct surveys to find out what members want from their Vertical Watch Program. A sample survey appears here under "exhibits". Use whatever questions you think are appropriate for your building, or make up others.
