After driving many miles. Then hiking my butt off in Okanogan County looking for pictographs, I sat in my chair and looked on the internet. Be patient, there are many large images being downloaded right now. Some of them are "out of this world". It's worth the wait...enjoy...Wc




The above images are petroglyphs from the Iron Age. They are dated at 800 B.C. Almost 3000 years old! The site is located in Valcamonica which is in northern Italy in the Alps. It is the most important petroglyph site in Europe. There are an estimated 350,000 images located here!

Carol Patterson-Rudolph, in 'On the Trail of the Spider Woman' writes: "Salt Creek Shield Figure portraying Oshach Paiyatiuma, Sun Youth, Canyonlands National Park, Utah. The dark blue symbolizes the sky; the broad white band symbolizes the pathway that he travels across the sky; the white rectangles represent clouds that he arouses in the sky; and the red area and the vertical red lines stand for rain that falls from the clouds. This panel dates from circa A.D. 1295."



This wonderful site is from the Vermillion Canyon in Colorado.



This site is located on the McConkie Ranch near Vernal Utah. They encourage visitors and have an extensive artifact collection.

This panel is in the Wildhorse Canyon in Utah.
