In 1945, Thomas Cain visited the Okanogan and recorded 17 sites in our County. Funds for the project were provided by the Washington State Museum. I've included his drawings from '45 in these images.
There are 2 panels to this 10'x 10' x 20' square boulder. One faces southeast and the other southwest. There are two rock shelter sites nearby. One still has a smoke blackened ceiling. There are several more pictographs west of this site that Cain missed. The original road bed to Wauconda and Republic passes right next to the boulder. Imagine alot of our roads follow the Native travel routes in the County. Most interesting is the obvious works after 1945 at this site. Images f and k have been added to since Cain's recordings!

This rock shelter site is 150' west of the boulder. It still has a smoke blackened ceiling. Although not very large, it must have been a great place to get out of the weather.

Found this panel 300' west of the boulder. There is no mention of it in Cain's work. It is also next to the old road. He must have driven right by it...twice!!!
