Read the Journal for this Hike
Length: 8 miles round trip Elevation: Pete Lake is at 2980 ft Elevation gain: overall Pete Lake is 180 ft higher than Cooper Lake, at the trailhead, but ups and downs make for a total gain of about 450 ft.
Pete Lake is a good hike for the average beginner in fair shape (a.k.a. can climb several flights of stairs at once and a few miles around the neighborhood.) The difference with Pete Lake is that those stairs are more spread out and up and down and a few miles turns into 4 miles each way. Creeks that cross the trail aren't much of a problem, at least in July.
Note: Bring a camera - Pete Lake offers views of snow-capped Lemah Mountain.
