Salmon la Sac Summary
July 2002
See Pictures of this Area
Salmon la Sac is a very nice, extremely popular campground just north of
Cle Elum Lake, and about 17 miles North of Roslyn. It has great access
to the Snoqualmie-to-Stevens section of the PCT. Several fairly short
and easy hikes (Pete Lake, Hyas Lake, Waptus Lake, Mineral Creek, etc.)
are on or near the PCT and within close range of the campsite.
Salmon la Sac Campground is also a good launching point for exploring by
car, as there are many miles of road with great views of Mount Rainier
and closer neighboring mountains.
The campground has awesome campsites, many of which are right along the
Cle Elum River. For just a regular campsite (no RV hookups) the fee in
the summer of 2002 was $13/night plus $10 for each additional car. It
was one heck of a lot of cash for a recent high school graduate with no
job, but it was definitely worth it. -Alicia
