The Ocean Blue have gotten back together and have toughened up their sound. I had a chance to talk with David Schezel and Oed Ronne.
Highwire Daze: It's been quite some time since we have seen you perform or have heard a new album from the band. Do you feel The Ocean Blue is trying to figure out a way to get back into where they were before?
David Schezel: We need to get back into shape, so to speak. It is like of like a spring training. I do not know if we are trying to figure out a way back. I think we certainly want to get back to where we were in terms of people being able to get our records and knowing about us and who we are and what our music is about and heard. We have sort of been put out of sight for a while. But that is the job of the record company.
HD: Let's talk about your change of music. This album is different in alternative sound. Why the new change?
Oed Ronne: It is more earthy. It is more of a guitar oriented sound. It rocks a little more. As far as classifying it, we just can not do that anymore. As far as change in our sound in the spring of 1994 when we left our othe label Warner Brothers, our keyboadest left and we had join our group but non other than Eddie.
HD: What is the meaning behind your song, Whenever You're Around
David: It is a kind of person, subjective song. It is very experiential. I do not know if I can articulate better than that. Some songs I will be able to tell you very specifically what they are about. This one you have to feel for yourself sort of.
HD: What is the message behind your album See The Ocean Blue?
David: The only message is The Ocean Blue, what we are about and our music. The quest is The Ocean Blue and defining what the band is. And here we are.
Here they are The Ocean Blue. In top musical shape and ever much so ready to go forward from here.
