Sinister's Base
"Well it seems that you remembered the trauma I was referring to child," Sinister said looking at Rogue.
Rogue looked away wishing the tears would stop falling, wishing she wasn't here, wishing Remy was with her now when she needed him. "Seems that way," she said trying to keep her voice even.
"Sir, do you wish me to start phase two?" Charley asked.
"What's phase two?" Rogue asked. "Do you mean ya have ta enter mah mind again?"
"Yes he has to enter your mind again," Sinister said. "Or have you forgotten our agreement?"
"Ah can tell ya what Sarah told me without him enterin' mah mind Sinister," Rogue said as her eyes narrowed.
"I doubt that you would tell me everything," Sinister said. "Begin Charles."
Rogue closed her eyes. No.. she thought trying to keep him out of her mind. Remember what Jean and the Prof taught ya . . . Rogue tried to build walls with her mind to block Charley's path. Each time one came up he blasted them down in a second.
"Rogue," Sinister said. "Remember our deal."
GET OUT OF MAH HEAD! Rogue shouted at Charley as she punched his image with all she had in her.
Charley's mind snapped out of Rogue's in a second. Rogue's eyes snapped open. "I gave you a chance," Sinister said.
Rogue felt a prick in her upper right arm. She felt a tingly sensation and then everything went black. Sinister glanced down at her body. "Try again," he said to Charley. "She won't put up much of a resistance now."
Charley nodded. Sinister threw a needle onto the table. Hopefully it doesn't affect the baby. He picked Rogue up and put her on the medical table to examine her.
Rogue spun around and saw Charley breaking the walls down she had been able to make before he came back. "Give up Rogue," she heard him say. "You're not strong enough."
Rogue's mind built up another wall. I'm slowing down, she thought. What did Sinister do to me? She glanced back over her shoulder and saw Charley right behind her. He grabbed her by the neck and threw her against the wall she'd just created. A cage went up around her.
"Charley don't do this," Rogue said as he began to open the door to her most recent memories. "He's using you."
Charley ignored her and the door opened. He began to watch the memories Sarah had shown one by one. Rogue struggled against the bars but she couldn't break them. The drug had made her too weak. No . . .
MRC Building
Gambit carefully unscrewed the opening of the ventilation shaft.
Your doin' dis f'Rogue, Remy. Not f'him. Jus' keep tellin' y'self dat, Remy thought as he slid the cover to the side. He caught his breath and the dropped down to the ground on his feet. His red eyes glowed in the darkness as he looked around the room for the computer. He spotted it, turned it on, and popped in the disk Sinister had given him.
He glanced down at his watch.
Sinster's Base
Sinister stared at the results and gave a sigh of relief. The drug would affect neither mother nor child. He looked over at Charley who was standing in the middle of the room with a dazed like expression plastered on his face. Charley's eyes suddenly came to life and he stared at Sinister. "Remy's your son!?!" he said.
Sinister smiled. So Sarah did tell Rogue everything, he thought. Security Breach! Sections 7 and 8 have been compromised. Sinister's smile faded and he walked over to the computer. "Computer show compromised sections," he said.
The screen changed from black to a picture of one of the rooms of the base. Psylocke, Beast, and Archangel were in it. Sinister typed in some codes. "Charley get Switchback and stop them," he said.
Charley ran out of the room and Sinister picked up Rogue. She was still unconscious. He ran with her towards the cargo bay where the plane was. He needed her in order to get the information from Gambit. A red beam went in front of him. "Summers," he said as he looked to his side.
Cyclops, Jean, and Bishop were in the doorway. "Let her go Sinister," Cyclops said. "You're out numbered."
Sinister hit a switch on the wall and a side door opened. He ran into it. The door closed behind him. Cyclops hit it with one of his energy beams and the three ran through it. "Scott why doesn't he just teleport?" Jean asked.
Cyclops didn't answer because he didn't know. Sinister looked behind him. It would have been easy to teleport but it might compromise the baby. He wasn't about to do that. He went behind through another door and ran towards the plane. He saw Psylocke, Beast and Archangel cutting off his path. Charley and Switchback were lying on the floor unconscious. He looked back. The other three were behind him.
"You have no where to go Sinister," Cyclops said.
Sinister's eyes narrowed. He pushed a button on his belt and Charley and Switchback disappeared. He laid Rogue onto the ground. "It appears you've won this time X-men but we will meet again," he said as he disappeared.
The X-men ran towards Rogue. "Hank is she okay?" Jean asked.
"She appears to be fine. I'll run some tests on her back t the mansion to make sure," Beast said breaking the collar around her neck.
Rogue moaned and her eyes opened. "Beast . . .?" she said.
"Your safe Rogue," she heard Jean say.
"Remy . . . have ta stop. ." She said.
"Storm's already on it. Now close your eyes and rest," Beast said.
Rogue nodded. She was going to be okay now.
MRC Building
Gambit jumped over the fence and ran towards his bike. "Remy stop!" he heard Storm yell. "You don't have to do this." He looked behind him and saw her running after him. "He has Rogue Stormy," he said. "I not loose her again." He threw a handful of glowing cards at her. Storm dodged them. "We have Rogue Remy," Storm said.
"Y'lieing," he said.
Storm turned on her commlink. "The other X-men went to Sinister's base. Rogue's fine Remy," Storm yelled at him. "Jean put Rogue on," she said into the commlink.
Remy turned stopped to listen. There was nothing. He began to go again when he heard her. "Remy . . . sugah?" "Rogue?" he said. "Y'alright?"
"Just . . . yawn . . . tired." The voice changed to Jean's.
"She needs to rest. We'll meet you at the mansion." Gambit looked at Storm. "I'm sorry . . ." he said.
"Do not be my friend," Storm said smiling. "Let's just go home." Home? Remy thought. "Sure t'ing Stormy," he said his charismatic smile appearing.
"Do not call me that," she said and began to walk away.
Remy took the disk from his pocket and soon it was nothing but ash in the wind. He walked after Storm his smile disappearing and his red on black eyes showing so much sorrow. Is it still goin' t be a home f'me Ororo when y'find out what I done?
Later at the X-mansion
Remy walked into the infirmary and looked down at the sleeping Rogue.
"Is she okay Hank?" he asked sitting beside her.
"She's fine," Beast said. "Though . . ." "What?" he asked.
"It's nothing," Beast said as he picked up the chart. It just appears that Rogue is pregnant. But how can that be . . .It's probably just a mistake.
He put the chart back down and smiled at Gambit. "It's good to have the two of you back," he said.
"It good t'be back mon ami," he said and looked back down at Rogue.
Elsewhere in the Mansion
"Scott give him time," Jean said to her husband. "He's been through a lot. They both have. We'll ask them later what happened." Cyclops sighed and turned off the lights. "What are we going to do Jean if he was in league with Sinister?" he asked.
Jean bit her lip. "Get some rest Scott," she said. "We'll talk about it in the morning."
Jean looked out the window of their room in the boathouse. Professor?
Yes Jean.
About Gambit . . .
We'll deal with it in the morning.
Yes sir.
Elswhere . . .
Sinister sat staring at the computer screen contemplating all the losses he had just received. The X-men had found one of his bases and destroyed it. He'd also failed to get Dr. Burnam's information. . .but soon he would have a grandchild who would be very powerful. The possibilities of what he could do with that lone plus the fact Gambit still owed him were a definite plus. A smile spread across his face.
Perhaps it hadn't been such a loss after all.
Well that's the end of Games: A Cajun's Love. I'm planing on a sequel if Darqstar will archive it of course(please!!) and if anyone actually wants to read it. If you do e-mail me!
