HONORING THE MILITARY CHAPLAINS

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY FATHER

REAR ADMIRAL MARK R. THOMPSON, CHC, USNR

MAY 12, 1919 - FEBRUARY 16, 2001

This page is dedicated to the life and work of my father, Rear Admiral Mark R. Thompson, CHC, USNR. He served as a Naval Chaplain from 1944 to 1975. When he retired, he was the Senior Ranking Chaplain in the Naval Reserve. He dedicated much of his life to the service of the men, women, and families of the United States Armed Forces. His service continued to his dying day. His entire family is very proud of this service to his country and all he accomplished during his years in the Navy and throughout his life. We are honored and proud that his final resting place be in Arlington National Cemetery.

The Military Chaplains have been serving the armed forces of this nation thoughout our history. It is with this service in mind that I add this page to my Veterans Honor Web Site. The links listed below will give you some idea of that service and the many dedicated chaplains that have made such an important difference to the lives of the men, women, and families of our nation's military.

Read what Chaplains at Pearl Harbor were doing on December 7, 1941. Transcription of an address given by Capt Dave Chambers, CHC, USN (Ret) December 1991 on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Delivered to the National Conference on Ministry to the Armed Forces.

On September 20, 1950, The Military Chaplains Association was chartered by Congress.

There are lots of links for Chaplains and family services here.
