The National Draft

The Jacobins joined with the Parisians to set up a Committee of Public Safety. One major problems for the Committee of Public Safety was the fact that many people were hungry and starving in Paris. To try to solve this problem they lowered the prices on certain food goods, in an attempt to make food more affordable to the poor.

In the August of 1793, the Committee of Public Safety asked for people to help in the war. For the first time in all of European history, a National Draft(The request of men to help in a war) was called upon.
