FOR YOUR EYES ONLY

Under the stars, in the moonlight

I dreamt of you last night.

That gentle cascading hair...

I could do nothing but stare:

It brushed my face,

and went through my fingers.

In the depth of my heart

that fragrance still lingers

Your eyes had something wild,

something serene;

there was divine light in them -

unknown and unseen.

I wanted to drown

into your mysterious eyes.

I wanted to know

who plucked them from open skies.

I realized,

that your eyes are not from this earth.

All the stars of the firmanent

cannot match their worth.

You walked away like the goddess -

which you are.

My dreams faded;

the moments that were felt were sour

The rest of the night

I chanted your name.

Knowing it cannot match your beauty,

the moon hid behind the clouds in shame.
