First, before I go into MY KIND OF JOURNEY, let me tell you how I got to know Audio Adrenaline. It all started a few years ago, when I went to see Audio Adrenaline in Springfield, IL. I saw Ben (who was not drumming for A.A. at the time) standing back by the stage. Well, after the show, when A.A. was signing autographs, I saw Ben standing out in the lobby. So I went up and started talking to him. I asked him something about drums, so we just started talking. It wasn't until the next time I saw A.A. that Ben was drumming for them. Well, Ben recognized me when I went to get an autograph, so we hung out and started talking more and more. That is how I got to know Audio Adrenaline.
Now on to MY KIND OF
JOURNEY! It was the Zombie Tour, starting in January and ending in May.
The May 8th show was in Rockford, IL at the Coranodo Theater and the May
9th (the night before the FINAL ZOMBIE TOUR SHOW) was in Greenville, IL.
My soon-to-be cousin
and I hit the road for Rockford that early morning of May 7th and were
there early that afternoon. We then hooked up with the guys shortly
after our arrival. We walked through Rockford, got a bite to eat,
and the Will took off on his skateboard, roaming the city of Rockford.
Ben was back at the hotel sleeping because he wasn't feeling good.
Tyler and Bob were working on getting some shirts that were in a locked
office that they couldn't get into. Mark was just hanging out.
The band got set up and you can just imagine what happened next.
The stage was dark,
and the band takes the stage. Where am I? Well, my soon-to-be
cousin and I are sitting in the front row with ALL ACCESS PASSES.
So we check out the show, the we go backstage and tell the
guys what a GREAT JOB they did, along with the Supertones and Jennifer
Knapp. We then wait for the guys to do the autograph session and
then we hit the road for Greenville.
Well, we start to get
on the road and sure enough the bus needs gas. So we hit the gas
station, fill up, get some some food and drink and are on our way...again.
We get down the road about thirty miles and we need to get an adapter for
the Sony Playstation that is on the bus. So we decided to stop at
a Wal-Mart in DeKalb, but upon our arrival it was already closed.
There aren't too many businesses that I can think of that are open at two
thirty in the morning, but that's okay, were back on the road.
We drive all night until we stop about twenty miles away from where the
next show will take place. We get fueled up for the last time because
after this show the bus is on its way to Nashville for the FINAL show on
the ZOMBIE TOUR. Well, we pull in, get a couple hours of sleep, get
up and shower, and go check in on what's going on. We grabbed lunch
at Kentucky Fried Chicken and then we sat around and talked. Ben
was helping judge some kind of contest, and then he took off with his parents,
who came to visit the band. The rest of the guys just kind of hung
out that day at the festival and listened to all of the bands that were
playing.
The show kicked again,
as always, and all I can say is that the photo album say it all.
I have been fortunate enough to have played with Audio Adrenaline, and
let me tell you something: they are a GREAT bunch of guys. I have
to say that thay have made an impact on my life, so for any of you Audio
Adrenaline fans out there, I say this: One day soon, we'll all be
taking a "Free Ride" thanks to the one and only Jesus Christ. That's
right. With His death on the cross, we have been saved. Through
Jesus, anything is possible.
Well, this has been
MY KIND OF JOURNEY. Hope you enjoyed it, and stay tuned, because
I'm hooking up with Audio Adrenaline again on September 19.
