... Monsignor Cornelius O'Brien, Archbishop of Halifax.

Cornelius O'Brien was born 04 May 1843 in the village of New Glasgow, Prince Edward Island. He pursued his studies in Rome and on 08 April 1871 he was ordained priest. Twelve years later on 21 January 1883 he was named the fourth Archbishop of Halifax. Father O'Brien is best remembered for his long and laborious attempts at convincing the Eudist Fathers to come to his diocese. Finally in 1890 the Eudist Fathers accepted Father O'Brien's invitation.
