Types of virii you may encounter on a dark and stormy night

The Boot Sector Virus
The boot sector virus infects your boot sector. Okay, so what else? What it does is
it alters the boot sector of your hard disk or your floppy disk. Sometimes it even replaces the boot sector.
Yes, they are not the type you'd want to meet alone, unarmed.

The File Virus
It is the virus that infects... what else... your files!!! It can corrupt the data
inside your file, and when you open your file on another computer, it will duplicate itself on
that computer. Nifty, cunning, wicked and dangerous.

The multi-partite virus
This type of virus goes for your files and your boot sector. Double the trouble, double the hassle and double the damage.

The polymorphic virus
A polymorphic virus infects a file or disk, then changes itself automatically so that it will not be
the same virus when it infects another file. These virii are VERY hard to detect, because of their changing nature.

The stealth virus
As the name suggests, this virus is very stealthy. It hides its actions and existence from DOS, and thus complicating detection.

The trojan horse
Trojan horses initiate some trigger events, but they do not usually duplicate themselves.
They also sometimes overwrite the files they infect

The macro virus
A new breed of virii that infects macro files of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel files.
They can alter the information of the files, as well as sometimes locking the files with passwords.
Very irritatig, from personal experience.
Don't worry
