BEAN SIDHE
Appearance: The average height for the Bean Sidhe is between 4'11" and 5'8". They generally have a very slender build. They retain a very young appearance despite their age and have large gemlike eyes, and very light colored hair, as well as a pale complexion. The Bean Sidhe love bright clothing and favor a style frequently associated with gypsies.
History: The Bean Sidhe were among the first inhabitants of
Glenraven. They were a race of beings that zealously worshipped the Goddess Brigit and erected temples to her throughout Glenraven. They were the founders of the now sprawling city of Gilenshire, and used it as a base for their studies in the ancient magick known as 'Ballad'. As time progressed their magick became supreme; Glenraven was divided into four realms that were governed by the most powerful of the Bean Sidhe wizards. Every year the four wizards would gather in their ancient temple, AVATAL, which is known today as the standing stones. These meetings were held in the season of Imbolg and consisted of revelry and meditation that would last long into the night when the four wizards would then perform a magickal Ballad to Brigit, ushering in a new year of life.
The last meeting was held in the Year of Dawn hectic. The four wizards gathered and the ceremony began as usual. When they began the Ballad the amount of magick that they wielded surpassed the power of Ballad and bolted out of control into the level of magick that has become known as Resonance.
The power of Resonance ripped open the fabric of time and space forming a permanent gateway to earth that sent a shockwave throughout Glenraven that completely destroyed the magickal influence that the Bean Sidhe had achieved. The wizards themselves were thrust into a state of flux between the realms of the spiritual and physical, dooming them to an existence as haunting specters upon earth. Soon after the rift was formed, humans began to appear in Glenraven using a new form of magic that was unaffected by the lingering powers of Resonance.
The Druidic Reign had begun.
Present: Most Bean Sidhe now live as bards or have become druids themselves in the hopes of one day repairing the destruction caused by Resonance. Some, however; insist that they should forget the past and live out their lives as merchants or even in some cases as soldiers. There have even been rumors of a Bean Sidhe army lying deep within the reaches of the mountainous north.
