THE FRENCH HAVE A SONG FOR IT PROGRAMME PICCADILLY THEATRE 1979

Devised and created by Peter Reeves, it was a pot-pourri of French ‘Chansons', some well-known, some not so. The performers were Peter, Helen, Amanda Barrie, Sonja Kristina (from Curved Air) and Stephen Tate (Judas in ‘Jesus Christ, Superstar'), but the show ran for just 19 performances. It was presented at the Piccadilly Theatre in the spring of 1979, a huge barn of a place and was totally lost in the vastness, whereas if it had been in a small, intimate theatre such as the Ambassadors or the Fortune it might very well have run for many months. Helen sang 'Given The Time',‘Milord', ‘La Mer', ‘No Regrets' and ‘Mon Homme' among other less well known songs - many of which had new English lyrics written by Peter.
