When I was a child,
I spoke of foolish things;
I ran and played and laughed,
To me…life had no boundaries.
But, there came a time when I grew up,
And put away childish things;
The things of the past did not suffice,
They had a shallow ring.
For there is more to do in life,
Than doing just as we please;
To never grow up…not rewarding,
Just self-indulgent and a life of ease.
One day…our toys we shall put away,
Take a step on maturity's road;
We'll not look back (maybe just a peek),
And, we'll leave this child's abode.
One day…we shall experience,
The perfect LOVE of our God;
All else…we'll put away,
No longer a child…we'll call Him our LORD.
His perfection epitomized,
His LOVE in full array;
We'll want more and more,
More of He who is LOVE…each day.
The rest of life shall fall in line,
For we have put first things …first;
We'll finally have the message,
Of LOVE…from a pure heart!
