FALSE SECURITY

Luke 12:16 “And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

A false sense of security,
The kind the world does offer;
Accumulated wealth piled high,
Build bigger houses, barns, and cellars.

All our time spent on things that perish,
Perish with the using;
In the meantime the stress is mounting,
While ourselves…we are abusing.

Relationships…they suffer,
Togetherness declines;
A bank account, stocks and bonds,
That’s all we have on our minds.

We try to juggle both…’tis true,
But, alas…it’s near impossible;
We spin our wheels in trying,
And, we remain in neutral.

Do we feel secure now,
Can we sit back…just rest?
I think not…for you see,
Everyone…we must impress.

There never is quite enough,
Once we travel down this road;
The sweet smell of success in our nostrils,
More needs more…a constant goal.

Our time is far better spent,
On things that are Eternal;
Our treasure stored in Heaven,
Not shallow and external.

The deep things of the Spirit,
A closer walk with our LORD;
These are the things Eternal,
Our treasure stored-up with God.

Thieves and robbers can’t break in and steal,
Rust and time cannot corrupt;
There is no sin, sickness or death,
In God’s kingdom…nothing to bankrupt.

The ‘natural man’ cannot comprehend,
The higher things of God;
That’s why we need our nature changed,
To the ‘natural man’…spiritual things seem odd.

Admit you are a sinner,
And need His saving grace;
True sorrow for your past deeds,
Your soiled garment…let Him replace.

Invite Christ Jesus into your life,
Your Saviour…He would be;
Let Him clothe you in pure white linen,
Then, ‘blood-bought sons’ are we.

Thank You, Jesus, for Your provision,
In You…we rest…secure;
You are our true security,
Of this…we are assured!
