Heb. 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our FAITH; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
************
FEAR paralyzes us,
Holds us in its frozen grip;
We can’t go forward…nor back,
Free from its hold…we’d like to rip.
Still, the power…we don’t have,
Try…as try can be;
Locked in its tight grasp,
O LORD help us to be free.
FEAR immobilizes…terrorizes,
Causes us to freeze solid;
Inactivity at its worse,
Neither here, nor there…fastened in the “mid”.
O to be free of its icy grip,
This prison without bars;
Sometimes…of our own making,
Rattle the door and windows…set them all ajar.
But, try as we may,
The bars still remain;
This prisoner…is still bound,
It’s our wish…this freedom to gain.
So, why stay in this prison,
It’s dark, damp, and forlorn;
While just outside its walls,
There’s a bright new day…waiting to be born?
And, just where is the key,
The one that sets us free;
‘Tis not a bastion of might,
Not some great army.
Just a small…little key,
As small as can be;
And, the bars will come down,
All the prisoners set free.
The key is FAITH…believing,
And, a small amount will do;
A grain of mustard seed,
In fact…will see us through.
No matter what our prison,
Anything that has us bound;
The fetters can be broken,
The bars…come tumbling to the ground.
We all have at least a mustard seed,
A tiny amount of FAITH;
Let’s put it to use…today,
For God’s glory…not our disgrace.
Step forth with the shield of FAITH,(Eph.6:16)
Arming us for all encounters,
Those fiery darts will all bounce off,
As it says…in all the Scriptures.
I knew a man who was full of FEAR,
His life was not his own;
He cowered in the shadows,
Afraid to claim what was his…alone.
And, I also knew another man,
FAITH was active in his life;
He moved forward…doing Father’s will,
Giving glory to God…no time for strife.
We have that choice to make,
Not daily…but moment by moment;
Let those walls and bars go up,
OR carry the shield of FAITH…as part of our garment.
What’s the choice that you will make today,
Prison bound…or set free?
I don’t know for sure…about you,
But, by FAITH…I shall be all He wants me to be!
