************
Who is the Shepherd of our soul,
Watching o'er us…daily;
Resting in pastures green,
Beside still waters…leading?
Our Shepherd always leads,
For sheep are led…not driven;
Gently leading us on His path,
Not beaten…but forgiven.
Have you felt His gentle staff,
It's crook is meant to turn us;
To turn us to His narrow way,
To safety…always lead us?
Or, have you been beaten…driven,
As goats…and sent your way;
With wounds and sores all over,
No one to care for you…today?
'Tis not our Gentle Shepherd,
This is the hireling;
He gets paid his wage,
Cares not about what he's doing.
Our Shepherd…our Good Shepherd,
Lays down His life for the sheep;
With His staff…drives off the wolves,
He's ever-watchful…never sleeps.
I think I'll let Him lead me,
A goat…I don't want to be;
So, I'll follow JESUS…all my days,
Until, His kingdom…I do see!
