Let the little child out,
She's hiding there…inside;
She's sitting there in silence,
But her eyes are opened wide.
She dreams of all the things she'd like,
The big, wide world to see;
With wonder and amazement,
Her smile is wide with glee.
What happened to this little child,
The one who lives within;
Did she have to grow up too soon,
Or, did that childhood never begin?
With a child…life should be carefree,
A time for learning…too;
A time of exploration,
To discover…all things new.
A little child is teachable,
So dependant are they;
With open heart and open arms,
Unpretentious…in all ways.
And now…as an adult,
Has she waited too long;
The happy days of childhood,
Now, forever…gone?
Too soon we must grow up,
Responsible, now…we;
No time to laugh and play,
On the tread-mill of life…no longer free.
Don't get caught-up on that tread-mill,
Let the little child run free;
Just keep things plain and simple,
Child-like faith…for me!
