Welcome

CASA DE LA ESPERANZA
(House of Hope)

But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Luke 18:16 (NIV)

Extending a vision of hope through hands-on Christian love.

Our web site is obviously under construction. However, we need to get the word out about these children's needs as soon as possible!

Please take your time and explore our site. As you explore, we encourage you to sign our guestbook. If you have a prayer request, please let us know about it. Also, we'd like to encourage you to spare a few moments of prayer for those requests already in our prayer book. If you see something that interests you or you have any questions about the Casa de la Esperanza (House of Hope) Orphanage, please let us know by sending us e-mail.

Casa de la Esperanza is an Orphanage located in Mexico. Casa is home to 52 children currently, and they are at full capacity. Only two workers care for this orphanage! They should have about 20 workers!

This web site is meant to be an update for those of you who have visited the kids, cooked for them, played with them, prayed for them and cared for them either personally or through donations over the past ten years.

This site is also intended to inform those of you who have not been able to visit the kids personally. Perhaps through prayer and the information contained here, you may be led by God's Spirit to participate in some way within this fantastic ministry. Not only is your involvement changing the lives of the kids but it will surely prove to be life changing for those called to participate on a more personal level.

Our goal is to spend the third Saturday of each month with the kids. Here's what a typical visit to Casa de la Esperanza might be like...

Our day would begin by meeting in the parking lot at a church somewhere in California at 7:45 a.m. The meeting place is yet to be decided. Once we are all together and hand out maps, we get on the road about 8:00 a.m. We then meet again at the "Last U.S. Exit" before crossing the border, where we can buy car insurance and regroup. Full coverage insurance for the day is $20.00. Then we can caravan across the border (or at least we can attempt it), and then on to the orphanage, which is about 15 minutes south of the border.

As we drive through the gates of Casa and begin to see the children's little hands waving, we'll know we're in for a very special day.

After saying our "hellos" and handing out hugs, we'll unload our cars, park, and then the day can really begin. Activities might include planned crafts...

...ball games, water balloon tosses, jump rope, going to the beach, or something totally spontaneous.

What will be planned is the lunch we'll provide and cook for the children and staff members of Casa on each of our visits. A normal lunch might consist of hamburgers or hot dogs, chips, fresh fruit, raisins, fruit drinks, and cookies for dessert. After the children have gathered and many thank you's have been said, we'll ask God's blessing on the food and the feast will begin!! It will not be unlike our family dinner tables, with one exception; there will be about 52 kids and most will want seconds - especially when we have OREO'S!

After the meal is finished, we'll clean, sweep, wash up, and store any unused food for another meal. The rest of the day would be free to be spent with the kids. The time would pass quickly and before you know it, it'd be time to say "Adios" and head back home.

Sometimes we can stop in San Diego for dinner which would give us all a nice time together before the drive home.
