The Last Flight

I walk towards my fighter
Not knowing if I will ever come back
I ask my self why I must go and fight
For Duty, Honor, or Loyalty?
The three words that every soldier has heard from day 1

I am in the jet
I am waiting to taxi down the runway
I ask myself again
Why must I go and fight
For Love, or Freedom?
The two words that every human has learned
Since they could talk

My jet is hit
I am going down
I must eject before I am killed
I pull the eject level
I am thrown clear of the jet, as it explodes
I see the enemy fighter heading towards me
Ignoring all the rules of war
He fires his machine gun

I feel the bullets thud into me
As the veil of darkness begins to take me
I remember what I fought for
And what I died for
The five most important things in the world
Duty, Honor, Loyalty, Love, and Freedom
The most important things to me

Life

Life is like a river
Sometimes you think you will sink
and then you will quiver
Faster than you can blink
You reach the shore of the river
Which is when you give your final blink

Human Nature

If you had everything you ever needed
I know you want more
It is your nature.

All the time I am here
Never once leaving your side
It is my nature.

When your neighbor has something better than you
You want or something better
All the time you wanted more and more

It is a fact of life
I will never forsake you
I am your human nature

Time

I am as constant as the North Star
People have put their trust in me
I will travel with you no matter how far
I saw you plant the tree
You can try and run, but it is like being trapped in tar
You will never be free from me

In the eye of the beholder

If it is a slaughter or a great battle
If it is a holy war or a genocide
If it is a death camp or relocation camps
It is in the eye of the beholder

If it is murder or self-defense
If it is a riot or a demonstration
If it is censorship or protecting your children
It is in the eye of the beholder

If you are a slave or a servant
If you are good or evil
If you are popular or not
It is in the eye of the beholder.

The need

I asked the beggar what he needed
Food for a day he replied

I asked the rich man why he didn't feed the beggar
Someone else will he replied

I asked the friendless what he needed
A friend he replied

I asked the popular people why he didn't befriend the friendless
Someone else will he replied

I asked the man on his deathbed what he needed
To see my son he replied

I asked his son why don't you see your father
My sisters will he replied

A Time Poem

When you think you have hidden from me
I will come up and surprise you
It doesn't work to hide behind a tree
Yes it is true
From now till you die
I will be at your side
When ever you cry
I will be your ever steady guide
I am a snake ready to strike
I am never not ready
If you are an adult or a tyke
It doesn't make a difference
I am time
I am always ready to chime.

It is a predator.
Stalking you wherever you go
You can try and outrun it, but in the end it will make the kill.
It is also a companion
Being a steadfast friend
When people run, it will never leave your side
At your birth it was there
At your death it will be there
A predator, or a companion it is your choice
Time will never leave you
