PART : READING _____ Some Succeed, Others Fail …….. Why?

This question has puzzled people for ages. We see this happening in our families, with our classmates and in our work-place. WHY DO SOME SUCCEED whilst OTHERS FAIL. Perhaps the following comparisons between the qualities of a failure and a successful person will help answer the question.

1. The successful person knows precisely what he desires , has a plan for getting it, believes in his ability to get it, and devotes a major portion of his time to acquiring it. The failure has no definite purpose in life, believes that all success is the result of "luck", and moves on his own initiative only when forced to do so.

2. The success is a master salesperson who has learned the art of influencing others to cooperate in a friendly spirit to carry out his plans and purposes. The failure finds fault with people. He goes out of his way to let them know about his critical attitude.

3. The successful person thinks before he speaks. He weighs his words carefully. emphasizes his likes concerning people, minimizing his dislikes or not mentioning them at all. The unsuccessful person does just the opposite. He speaks first, thinks later. His words bring only regret and embarrassment and cost him irretrievable damage because of the resentment they cause.

4. The successful person expresses opinions only after having informed himself so he can do so intelligently. The failure expresses opinions on subjects about which he has little or no knowledge.

5. The successful person budgets time, income and expenditure. He lives within his means. The failure squanders time and income with a disregard for their value.

6. The successful person takes a keen interest in people, especially those with whom he has something in common, and cultivates a bond of friendship with them. The failure uses others – keeps friends only with those from whom he wants something.

7. The successful person is open-minded and tolerant on all subjects, towards all people. The failure has a closed mind, steeped in intolerance, which shuts him off from seeing favourable opportunities and the friendly cooperation of others.

8. The successful person keeps abreast of the times and makes it an important responsibility to know what is going on, not only in his own business, profession or community but throughout the entire world. The failure concerns himself only with his immediate needs, like food, entertainment and pleasure.

9. The successful person keeps his mind and outlook on life positive at all times. The success he enjoys depends upon the quality and quantity of service he renders. He makes it a habit to render more service than he promises. The failure looks for "something for nothing", or something under the table which he did not earn. And when he fails to get it, he blames others.

10. The successful person has a keen respect for his Creator and expresses it frequently through prayers and deeds of helpfulness for others. The failure believes in nothing but his own desire for pleasures and seeks those at the expense of others when and where he can.

In summary, there is a big difference in both the words and the deeds of the successful person and the failure. Each person is where he is and what he is because of his own mental attitude towards himself and others. CIF0303

PART II : DISCUSSION

The author outlines ten basic differences between people who succeed and people who fail.

Let us go through these points one by one sharing our own personal experiences and how they relate to Mind Science principles.

PART III : REFLECTION

(Facilitator / Leader reads)

Sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes and breathe normally. ( Pause )

Take a deep breath ….. Exhale

Take another deep breath ….. Exhale

Take another deep breath ….. Exhale

With eyes still closed, let us go through 5 of these basic points and see how they can apply to our daily lives:-

  1. Do I have a definite purpose in life and do I go about life keeping my goal in view.
  2. ( Pause 15 secs.)

  3. Do I think before I speak, weighing my words carefully.
  4. ( Pause 15 secs.)

  5. Do I budget my time, income and expenditure.
  6. ( Pause 15 secs.)

  7. Am I open-minded and tolerant when others express their views and opinions?
  8. ( Pause 15 secs.)

  9. Do I always think, act and behave in a positive manner when faced with problems or worries.

( Pause 15 secs.)

Remember how you think, talk and act, determines whether you are a successful person or a failure. Each of us is what we are because of our mental attitude.

Get ready to come out of your levels slowly.

Take a deep breath ………. Exhale (2X)

When ready, flip your fingers, open your eyes, feeling fine and in perfect health, fine and perfect as ever before.
