Sarah Banner

This is the story of Mommy's pregnancy and my birth. Mommy took a home pregnancy test on April 25, 1999 and found out that she was pregnant with me. Mommy and Daddy were both very excited and surprised at the same time. They told my grandparents that very same day and they were all very excited too. Sarah's ultrasound on August 16, 1999Mommy went to the doctor soon after this and had an ultrasound to find out when I would be born. The doctor said that I would be born around December 26, 1999, a Christmas baby. Over the next few months Mommy and Daddy started getting ready for my arrival. On August 16, 1999, Mommy had another ultrasound and found out that I was going to be a girl. They decided to name me after my Nanny. Her middle name was Ann and so is mine but I never got to meet her because she passed away exactly 4 weeks before I was born. This picture of Mommy was taken the morning she went to the hospital to have me Well, time passed and I kept growing. Mommy was getting pretty big, as you can tell by the picture. Mommy went to the doctor on Tuesday, December 14, 1999 for an ultrasound and cervix check. The ultrasound showed me to be 8 lbs 11 oz and Mommy was dilated to 2 1/2 cm and 50% effaced. Since I was getting to be pretty big according to the ultrasound and Mommy had a hard delivery with my sister's delivery, the doctor decided to go ahead and induce on December 16, 1999. Mommy says she thinks she was starting to go into labor on her own the day before anyway. She had been contracting all day and all night. Anyway, Mommy and Daddy got to the hospital at 6:00 am on December 16, 1999 and Mommy was hooked up to the monitors. She was having mild contractions every 2 minutes on her own before they started any medicine. They started the pitocin at 7:00 a.m. causing the contractions to get stronger. At 8:30 a.m. her doctor came in and checked her (3 cm now) and broke my water. This caused even stronger contractions. At 9:00 a.m. she got an epidural put in but without any medication yet. They wanted her to go as long as she could without the medication since it can slow things down. By 10:00 a.m. she was hurting pretty bad so they gave her a dose of medication. Sarah Ann: Minutes oldThey checked her at 11:00 a.m. and she was 5 cm almost 100%. Checked her again at 11:30 a.m. because she was feeling more pain and pressure....6 cm 100%. They gave her another dose of medicine because she was feeling the contractions again and having lots of pressure. She was checked again at 12:00 noon and was 8 cm. At 12:15 p.m. she was 10 cm and my head was very low. She was having lots of pressure and wanted to push but they wouldn't let her until the doctor got there. She got there at 12:25 p.m. and let her start pushing and I was born at 12:38 p.m. The ultrasound was a bit off. My stats were 8 lbs. 4 oz. and 19 1/4 inches long. Everything was perfect with me. My apgar scores were 9/9. I started crying as soon as I was delivered and was just a perfect little girl so Mommy says.
