Jeffrey Hall (97)
I am currently working as Assistant director at Center Area High School, Center Twp. PA, where we are doing Children of Eden. I am also assistant Director at Beaver Area High School where we are doing My Favorite Year. My past directorial experience includes serving as Asst Director for both Oliver at CHS & Damn Yankees at BHS. I will be directing Come Blow Your Horn at the New Castle Playhouse in Oct. 2001. I have recently been appointed to the Marketing Committee for the Playhouse and have been performing in various shows and reviews through Beaver, Allegheny & Mercer County since graduation. Some of my roles since graduation are: Herbie in Gypsy ; Ben Franklin in 1776; Rev. Crisparkle in Drood, the Mystery of Edwin Drood & Charles Guiteau in Assassins. I have also taped two commercials. I credit Dr. Bill Robinson for sparking a love of theatre inside me that will never die.
Karyn Senita
I graduated from Thiel in 1999 with a B.A. in French and a Secondary Education Certificate. In the summer of 1998, I taught an Intro to Theatre course to high school students at The Pennsylvania State University. In the spring of 1999, I was the Assistant Director of the musical production "Sweet Charity" at Farrell High School. Currently, I am the Drama Club advisor at Slippery Rock Area High School, where I am teaching French, and the Assistant to the Director of the musical "Oliver" in association with Slippery Rock Area High School and the Slippery Rock Park Commission. I would never have been able to begin my career in the theatre if it had not been for Bill Robinson. I am eternally grateful for his guidance, support, and friendship.
Monica Anderson
I graduated from Thiel in 1988 with a B.A. in English and French and Secondary Education Certification. I went on to get my M.A. and Ph. D. in Theatre from Bowling Green State University. I am presently Associate Professor of Drama at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio, where I have worked since the Fall of 1992. I teach a number of couses, including theatre history, theatre literature, acting, directing, oral interp, dramatic theory, and production. I also direct one show each year; some of my past productions include The Tempest, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Cherry Orchard, Twelfth Night, The Infernal Machine, and You Can't Take It With You. I was honored in Spring 2000 with the Senior Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching and recently finished my tenure as an officer with the National Communication Association's Theatre Division. I am still a member of NCA and also a member of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education and Theatre Communications Group. I am grateful to have had the opportunities to pursue a career in theatre and thank Bill for the intitial inspiration and direction.
Kristen Koehler (‘92 Thielgrad)
I graduated from Michigan State University in 1994 with a Master’s degree in theatre arts. Upon graduation from MSU, I entered the Ph.D program in theatre arts at Bowling Green State University. After working towards my Ph.D. for a few years, I took a couple years off to work out in the "real world" for a while. I accepted a job as the Theatre Manager of the Philip Lynch Theatre at Lewis University which was a small, private liberal arts college outside of Chicago. In this position I was responsible for planning, organizing, controlling, and directing all of the preliminary aspects of theatrical production including the creation and production of printed publicity materials, coordination of the annual season subscription campaign, box office management, volunteer recruitment, and the supervision and training of student support staff. Currently, I returned to BGSU to focus on finishing my Ph.D. I was recently chosen to be the graduate student representative for the Senior Adult Theatre focus group for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education. I am also almost finished with a graduate certificate in gerontology which has been a great help in my current area of research interest - senior citizen theatre. Most recently, I was awarded full funding of $2,900 for a grant I wrote in which I am working to help establish a partnership with BGSU’s theatre students, the Wood County Committee on Aging (senior center), and Bowling Green’s City Parks Programs. I will be organizing and directing an all senior citizen musical revue production which will be a tribute to the Golden Age of Radio. In this partnership, I have created an "arts apprenticeship" program in which local seniors will apprentice under BGSU theatre students in areas of production. Radio Days Variety Hour will go up in mid-May of 2001. I would love to eventually find a job as an artistic director for a community theatre, or I would also be happy working again in arts management or teaching on the college level. I’m still also hoping to be just like Bill when "I grow up." I hope I will always be able to share my love of theatre with others as he has with me.
Ron Legler
I am currently serving as Executive Director of Florida Theatrical Association, in charge of bringing live theatre to Florida. We are a part of the SFX Entertainment Corp.,the largest producer of live entertainment in the world. My main responsibility is to develop new audiences for Broadway theatre through school programs and scholarships. We also offer grants to arts organizations throughout the state of Florida. I owe my career to Bill Robinson, who introduced me to live theatre, both as as actor and as an audience member.
