(I didn’t get the first part that comes before the opening credits)
Major Charactres: Sinbad, Firouz, Doubar, Rongar, Scratch, Sudra, Dermott
Minor Charactres: Maeve (she’s not in it much), two horsemen, wind warriors, man with helmet, Alkon, sea serpent
(Sinbad is relaxing on a hammock, on the shore; Dermott comes up and lands on the hammock, and chirps; Sinbad sits up)
Sinbad: What’s the matter? Too nice a day to study sorcery? (Dermott chirps again) Pardon me, for trying to relax. (Dermott chirps) Dermott? Are you OK? (Dermott chirps) Is something wrong? (Dermott chirps, and Sinbad sees the image of Doubar all tied up) No. No, it must be the heat. You can’t be telling me that Doubar’s in trouble…can you? (Dermott chirps) Well, it can’t hurt to check, right? (he gets up and puts his saber in its sheath) Lead the way.
(Doubar and Firouz are tied up)
Doubar: Are you all right, Firouz?
Firouz: I think I’ve been cut.
Doubar: As long as nothing’s broken.
Firouz: I think our friends have taken off. It appears as if they don’t want us to follow them.
Doubar: Just come right out and say it.
Firouz: Huh?
Doubar: It’s all my fault. Doubar, big man, small mind. Go ahead, I’ve heard it all before. Big muscles! Big belly! Big mouth! Little brain.
Firouz: But I wasn’t—
Doubar: Oh, look at the big sailor! There’s an easy mark! He must be pretty stupid! It just so happens that I’m not stupid. Just impulsive, that’s all.
Firouz: I don’t think that of you, Doubar. In fact, sometimes, I envy you.
Doubar: Really?
Firouz: I’ve never been big or powerful. Never been able to get totally lost in the moment. You have a way with people, I’ll never have.
Doubar: Yeah, I do, don’t I? (smiles) Well, if truth be told, I get envious of you as well.
Firouz: Honest?
Doubar: The way you can just take things out of your head and use your hands to bring them into existence. It’s a talent I’m in awe of.
Firouz: Never would have guessed that.
Doubar: Well, now that I’ve got my wind back, time to track down those charletons and rescue Rongar. (he uses his strength to break the ropes that held him down; he goes around to Firouz)
Doubar: This may hurt a little. (he breaks the ropes around Firouz) All done.
(They get up, and look at the ground; they find tracks of the horsemen who kidnapped Rongar)
Doubar: They’re heading inland.
Firouz: How can you be so sure?
Doubar: The two man’s feet aren’t callused. They must be riders. They’d need a third horse for Rongar. Three horses, three sets of tracks.
Firouz: But wouldn’t they head to the sea? To get the prize off the island?
Doubar: Aye. Normally. But these tracks seem to be heading east. Toward…fresh water. The slave masters are still on the island! Come on. Let’s go and give them another lesson in good manners.
Firouz: Do you mind if I talk to them first, before you start teaching them?
(The two horsemen come riding back)
Doubar: Look. They’re coming this way without Rongar.
Firouz: Let me reason with them, okay? (he runs towards them) Hello! Excuse me! I would just ah—
(The horsemen don’t listen to him, so Doubar throws a log at one of them, who falls of his horse, and hits the other horse, causing the other man to fall; they land on the ground, and Doubar puts his foot on one of them, and held onto the other with his hand)
Doubar: All right, you villains. Tell me where my friend is.
(One of the men babbles in another language)
Doubar: Enough gibberish! Talk or I’ll play toss the turban…with your heads still inside.
The Other Horseman: Don’t worry. He’s all right. We sold him…to Scratch.
Doubar: Just where is this Scratch?
Horseman: Up on the trail…behind us.
Firouz: Doubar! Over here!
Doubar: Give their horses free reign, Firouz. These boys look like they could use some exercise.
(Firouz slaps the horses, who run off)
Doubar: Now off with you! Before I lose my temper.
(Firouz and Doubar begin to walk over to the old building)
Firouz: Doubar, you are in the teaching mode again, aren’t you?
(They walk past a tree, where Sinbad is leaning against it)
Sinbad: Is this a private lesson, or can anyone sit in?
Doubar: Sinbad.
Sinbad: Exactly what’s going on here?
Doubar: Nothing, really. Slight misunderstanding.
Firouz: (sighs) Doubar got Rongar kidnapped, and now we have to go rescue him. (looks over at Doubar, who glares at him) Well, it wasn’t his fault. He was duped. (looks at Doubar again, who glares at him) We were duped.
Doubar: Firouz, you’re not helping! Some miscreant called Scratch has him. They’re hold up down there somewhere.
Sinbad: Well, let’s go pay him a visit, shall we? (draws sword)
Doubar: That’s exactly what I had in mind.
(They run through the forest, to the old building)
Doubar: (when they get to the old structure) Rongar! Scratch!
Sinbad: Place seems deserted.
Doubar: Except for these darn flies!
(They are swatting a lot of flies that are buzzing around their heads)
Firouz: This is the only structure that Scratch might be hiding in.
(Doubar looks at the symbol on the door)
Sinbad: Doubar?
Doubar: I’ve seen that symbol in the west. If it means what I think it means, then this Scratch is no mere slaver. He’s a demon.
Sinbad: There’s only one way to find out. (he puts his saber in it’s sheath, then pushes on the door, to try and open it) Won’t budge.
Doubar: Stand back. (he tries to open the door, but nothing happens)
Sinbad: Maybe if we all work together.
Doubar: Yeah.
(Firouz and Sinbad lock hands together, and begin to push on the door)
Sinbad and Firouz: One (they push once), two (they push again), three (they push again)
(Doubar then chooses to do a running start, and runs into Sinbad and Firouz, and together, they open the door)
(They get inside the structure; it looks like a cave)
Sinbad: Just for once, I’d like to break through a door, and find a room on the other side.
Doubar: We live in a world of magic, little brother.
Sinbad: Yeah, well, the thrill factor’s beginning to wear a little thin.
Firouz: The door! There’s not a trace of it!
Doubar: Then I guess we move forward.
(They begin to walk through the cave; they eventually see Rongar, who is tied up on a cross)
Doubar: By all that is holy! Rongar!
(They run to him; Rongar shakes his head)
Doubar: We’re not going back, old friend, not without you.
Firouz: Indeed. We’re a team.
Sinbad: (he’s trying to cut the ropes) One big happy family.
Doubar: These ropes are bewitched! They have a life of their own!
Sinbad: (pulls out his sword) Then this is really going to depress them! (he cuts the ropes, and Rongar falls onto Doubar’s and Firouz’s shoulders)
Doubar: There we go, old friend. That’s it. Now we’ll find that door and leave.
(They begin to leave, when the cave shakes, etc)
Doubar: Maybe not.
Scratch: Who dare invade the sanctity of the lord of the flies? Why do you steal my slave?
Sinbad: It’s all been a big mistake!
Doubar: We’ve come to take him home! He’s our brother!
Firouz: We have different mothers!
(Doubar and Firouz exchange glances)
Scratch: I’ve never seen such friendship demonstrated before. So touching. So twisted. So torn. Well, no matter. No, you will all die. And since Doubar and I know each other, I think he’ll go first.
Sudra: Be gone, Scratch! I command you! Leave these good men be!
Scratch: Oh, all right. (he says that a little too quickly, without a fight; he leaves them alone)
Sinbad: Whoever you are, thank you!
Doubar: Sinbad! Over there!
(They walk around a corner, and see Sudra, a beautiful woman with long blond hair, chained)
Sinbad: Are you the one that saved us?
Sudra: I am Sudra, the Belician, Sinbad. But if you value your lives, you must leave, now!
Sinbad: Not without setting you free, first. Doubar!
(Sudra puts her hand up on a table, and Doubar takes his scimitar, and tries to chop the chain free)
Doubar: It’s as if it were forged in hellfire!
Firouz: Impossible.
Sudra: Doubar is right, Firouz. They come from hell, itself.
Sinbad: You know my name. How?
Sudra: I, too, was a disciple of Dim-Dim’s. I was on my way to warn him of Scratch’s arrival, when I was captured by Scratch himself. Oh, Sinbad. I am near death. I can’t last another day. You must carry on my task. Unless you stop the demon now, he will invade your country, and bring it to its knees.
Doubar: In the west, his image is everywhere. He is feared by all. They say he is responsible for all the evil men do.
Firouz: That’s convenient.
Sinbad: Don’t worry, Sudra. We’ll do whatever has to be done together. Is there no way to free you from your prison of stone?
Sudra: There is one way. This throne holds four skulls. They are the key to its power. If you could bring back the other three skulls, and place them in their rightful spots, my arms and legs will be free.
Sinbad: Consider it done.
Sudra: But you will have to travel to worlds that no mortal has ever visited…and survived. Through doors, and portals that twist through time and space.
Firouz: Fascinating.
Doubar: Don’t worry, little lady. We’re old hands at dangerous voyages.
Sinbad: Tell us, Sudra. How do we begin our quest?
Sudra: Through that portal, lie the skulls. It will lead you to the worlds you must traverse. (she begins to cough)
Sinbad: Don’t have much time. We have to work fast. Rongar, you and I will go after the first skull. Doubar, you and Firouz go after the second.
Doubar: It’ll be our pleasure.
Sinbad: Keep your spirits up, Sudra. Soon, you will be able to come and go as you please. (he kneels and kisses her hand)
Sudra: Everything Dim-Dim said about you is true. Thank you, Sinbad. Thank you.
(The four men go through the portal)
(Sinbad and Rongar are dropped in a field)
Sinbad: Doubar! Firouz! (he walks a bit, looking for the two men) Doubar! Firouz! (he pauses) Guess they were dropped somewhere else. (he pauses when he hears a strange noise) Rongar, you hear that? (they walk a bit, and they see a structure of sticks, and the skull at the top) Look. It’s ours for the taking. (suddenly, some warriors appear out of nowhere and attack them) What on earth? They’re coming out of the tree! (they dodge them for a few minutes) It’s like fighting our shadows! (they fight more) Rongar! As much as I hate to use this word. Let’s retreat! (they run, and hide behind some large rocks; the wind warriors stop attacking) We’re going to have to rethink our approach.
