(Orlock and Marisa are talking)
Marisa: You were right. She’s found a new champion.
Orlock: Oh, I know. And I expect you to deal with it.
Marisa: Why don’t you let him succeed? I could be the new baroness.
Orlock: Hardly, my dear. You’re good for the occasional rump, but to spend an eternity with you.
Marisa: You can’t still love her. She despises you. I would support you. Kill her for you.
Orlock: How would you do that for me, that witch? As for Kalilah, she’s my wife. She has been by my side for two centuries. Much longer than any of my other wives! And I expect you to treat her with the same respect you show me. Oh, don’t pout. You enjoy killing so. Dispatch of Sinbad and his Moor friend for me.
Marisa: Why should I?
(Orlock grabs Marisa by the throat and quickly pushes her against the wall)
Orlock: Because, if Sinbad succeeds in finding Kalilah’s heart, and releases her from me, you will have no mistress! You will no longer be necessary in the castle! And those who are not necessary in the castle, have to find other accommodations in the print! Understood?
Marisa: I don’t serve a master.
Orlock: You serve, you live. Now find the few of your strongest guards, and rid me of these meddlers! You know the terrain. They don’t. Simpler still, even for a conniving witch like you.
(Orlock kisses Marisa)
Orlock: And when you return, perhaps we’ll celebrate.
(Sinbad and Rongar are running through the woods)
Sinbad: Orlock’s lair should be visible by sunup. The map says to head due west. Bryn said that Orlock knows of our mission. Anything can happen.
(They hear howling)
Sinbad: And probably will.
(Sinbad and Rongar run from the dogs; they hide under water, using bamboo for snorkels; they rise up out of the water)
Sinbad: Okay, go!
(They continue on their way for a minute or two)
Sinbad: The sun should rise in an hour. After that, we’re gonna have to make better time if we’re going to make it back to the castle before nightfall.
(They step in a trap and are dangling upside-down; Marisa and her guards walk up to them)
Marisa: Secure the ropes, men.
Sinbad: Hold on, Rongar.
Marisa: (laughs while disarming them) Are you this clumsy on the high seas, Sinbad?
Sinbad: Snare traps aren’t one of the usual hazards of sailing.
Marisa: Oh. Welcome to my world. (holds dagger up to Sinbad’s throat) I could kill you now, you know.
Sinbad: Where’s the sport in that?
Marisa: (laughs and goes to disarm Rongar) My thought’s exactly. So, I think I’ll let you dangle until sunrise. I wanna slow death for you, Sinbad.
Sinbad: Aren’t you afraid I’ll escape?
Marisa: Hardly. Hunters will come shortly, and dispatch what’s left of you.
Sinbad: A curious situation.
Marisa: What’s that?
Sinbad: Well, Kalilah has no heart, and fights the urge to kill. You have a heart, and relish the sight of blood.
(Howling is heard again)
Marisa: No. Your death will be slow and painful. (spins the two men around on their ropes) I’ll see you soon, Sinbad. Although, I doubt there’ll be much left of you to see.
(Marisa leaves them, laughing; they are struggling)
Sinbad: Save your strength, my friend. You’re gonna need it. We gotta survive until sunrise, Rongar.
(Howling is heard again)
Sinbad: You know, Rongar. One thing I’ve learned over the years. (takes out a hidden knife and cuts his hands free) Always carry an extra knife, in case of emergency. (cuts himself down)
(Sinbad cuts Rongar’s hands free, the Rongar cuts himself down; they pick up their weapons)
Sinbad: Time to run for it now. Come on!
(They run through the woods)
Sinbad: Let’s go!
(The dogs are after them; Sinbad and Rongar climb a tree; Rongar aims a dirk at one of them)
Sinbad: That won’t do any good. These are Orlock’s pets. They’re probably vampires too. (whispers) Sunrise. It is going to be light soon.
(Sinbad sees Dermott)
Sinbad: Dermott! Get their attention! Stall them!
(Bryn, from inside the castle, chained up, uses her magic through Dermott, and Dermott let’s out a horrible squawking noise; the dogs run off)
Sinbad: They can’t stand the sunlight.
(Sinbad and Rongar jump down)
(The crew is chained up inside of the castle)
Doubar: I don’t like the lengths this woman is going to, just to keep her husband from coming suspicious.
Firouz: At least we’re not being tortured.
Barada: We’re all dead men. Dead!
Doubar: Stow it, Barada! Bryn, isn’t there anything you can do?
Bryn: I don’t know. This castle is filled with…I don’t even know how to describe it.
Doubar: The entire place is damned. It’s cursed.
(A few guards enter the dungeon)
Guard: Just in case you get any ideas, little witch. (holds up hand) This should stop your spell-casting.
(Bryn looks away)
Doubar: Bryn!
Bryn: It’s the Hand of Glory.
(The guard laughs as he lights the hand on fire)
Doubar: Mistress promised no harm would come to us!
Guard: The mistress sleeps all day. What she don’t know won’t hurt her. Only you!
Doubar: Bryn! Wake up, Bryn!
Guard: She can’t hear you, boy. That’s a fresh hand of a hanged man. No magic can be made near it.
(Marisa and a few guards go back to where they had trapped Sinbad and Rongar)
Marisa: Impossible! The dogs should have eaten them alive! If Orlock finds out we bungled this job, it’ll be our necks! H’ya!
(They leave on the horses)
(Sinbad and Rongar are walking through the forest)
Sinbad: Orlock’s lair. We should be there by midday.
(Some arrows go flying by them; they turn around and see Marisa and her guards coming after them)
Sinbad: Took them long enough!
(They all fight)
(Sinbad knocks Marisa off her horse)
Sinbad: These always come in handy. Think they’ll mind if we borrow their horses?
(Sinbad and Rongar each climb aboard a horse and ride off)
Marisa: (gets up) Enjoy your small victory, Sinbad. Soon your head will belong to me!
(Sinbad and Rongar come to a place where they can’t take horses)
Sinbad: Looks like we’re going the rest of the way on foot.
(They dismount and head on)
Sinbad: Since the undead sleep during the day, Orlock’s going to be out of commission. Which means we shouldn’t have any problem finding Kalilah’s heart. Yeah. Okay, let’s go.
Marisa: (arrives on the scene and cuts Rongar’s arm) I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Now drop the weapon!
(Sinbad drops his sword)
Marisa: You never had a chance, Sinbad.
Sinbad: I suppose you wouldn’t be interested in a fair fight?
Marisa: I’m not one for laughing, Sinbad. But I’m laughing now.
Sinbad: Well, Smiley, since a fair fight’s out of the question… (throws a rock at Marisa, hitting her)
(The two of them fight)
Marisa: It’s a shame you’re fighting for the wrong side, Sinbad. You would have been an interesting toy.
Sinbad: This toy only plays for keeps.
(They continue fighting, until Sinbad sends Marisa falling over the side of a cliff)
Sinbad: You served the wrong master.
(Sinbad and Rongar enter Orlock’s lair, and when they reached the room with the coffin, Sinbad snaps his fingers, and he and Rongar walk in)
Sinbad: Nice place. Very homey. (sees jewel chest) Kalilah’s heart. Now, it’s daytime. Orlock will be fast asleep.
Orlock: (enters room, laughing) Error in that wives tale, Sinbad. You see, we don’t sleep. We simply hide from the sun. I planned on dining with you this evening, but since you insisted on delivering my dinner to my home away from home.
(They fight)
Orlock: Fine. I’ll have the seafood first.
(They fight more)
(Rongar throws a few dirks at Orlock, hitting him)
Orlock: (turns around) Sorry. They have to be made out of wood.
(They fight more)
Orlock: I’m afraid you made this trip for nothing!
Sinbad: I’m not so sure of that. Maybe I should shed a little light on the subject.
(Sinbad pulls the curtains off of the three windows; Orlock burns, while Sinbad picks up a wooden stake and throws it at him in the heart, killing Orlock; Sinbad picks up the chest)
Sinbad: We have to make it back before nightfall. Go!
(They leave)
(Guards enter the room where the crew is being held)
Guard: Time to prepare for the feeding. (walks to Bryn) We’ll start with her.
Doubar: No! Start with me!
Guard: We’re saving you ‘til last.
Barada: Stay away. Stay away!
(Doubar breaks through the chains and starts a big fight; Bryn, who has been released prior to the fight, also helps; Kalilah then enters the room)
Kalilah: Leave him be! (walks down the stairs) I don’t want any of them injured. Don’t try any magic, sister, the hand is too powerful. You could be injured. Your pet could die. Your death will be fast and painless, I promise. (sees Barada) Now, who injured this man? I gave orders they were not to be harmed. Who is responsible for this?
Guard: I…I am, Mistress.
Kalilah: Then you shall pay for your disobedience.
Guard: Oh, no. Please, Mistress, no!
(Kalilah kisses him, and sucks the life-force out of him; he turns into a skeleton)
Kalilah: Your Captain has not returned. He has failed.
Doubar: (whispers) Sinbad.
Kalilah: Release them. He was my last hope.
Doubar: No.
Kalilah: I’ll try and relieve you of your lives in a painless way.
Bryn: Fight the hunger, Kalilah. Try.
Kalilah: That won’t help, my sister witch.
Firouz: (runs to stand between Kalilah and Bryn) Try harder! It is possible to overcome physical cravings through sheer thought. Mind over matter!
(Kalilah throws Firouz against the wall)
Doubar: I’m going to charge them.
Firouz: You’ll be killed.
Doubar: I’ll die fighting.
Barada: So would I. You murdered my best friend. I’ll die avenging him!
(Sinbad and Rongar run into the room, just as Kalilah is about to enjoy her feeding)
Sinbad: Kalilah, no! (runs down stairs)
Doubar: Sinbad!
Sinbad: (hands Kalilah the chest) Your heart, my lady.
(Kalilah takes the chest, walks slowly over to the fireplace, and throws it in)
Kalilah: I’ll but ask you one more favor. I would like to feel your lips on mine in a kiss. A true kiss. Given freely without fear. Without death.
(Sinbad looks at his crew; Bryn gives him a look; Sinbad kisses Kalilah)
Kalilah: I envy you. You have family, you have friends, you have love. No one with magic could bring me those treasures.
(Kalilah grows old quickly, then dies and fades away)
Sinbad: Rest in peace, Baroness.
(Bryn was looking a little jealous there; Sinbad looks at his crew; Bryn quickly looks up at him, and tries to hide the…I guess you could call it…jealousy)
Sinbad: We have a tide to catch.
(They leave)
THE END
