(The crew is walking in the town)

Bryn: Doubar?

Doubar: Aye, I can feel it too. And I'm not blessed with your gift.

Firouz: Unbelievable. This was a thriving village not an hour ago.

Doubar: This place has the stench of death to it.

Firouz: Yeah. What now?

Doubar: Sinbad? Sinbad!

(Bryn shivers)

Firouz: Chilly?

Bryn: Down to my soul.

Doubar: Sinbad!

Bryn: I've never seen so many flies around.

Firouz: Reminds me of the time when we encountered the Lord of the Flies.

Bryn: What?

Firouz: Scratch. The devil. The name of this town. The island.

Bryn: Albadon?

Firouz: Another name for the bottomless pit. An abyss. The abyss.

Bryn: So…

Firouz: The devil is called the Lord of the Bottomless Pit.

Bryn: I'm not quite following.

Firouz: Well, unless I miss my guess, we sailed into hell on earth. We don't have to save Sinbad from death.

Bryn: We don't--

Firouz: We have to save him from damnation.

Bryn: We have to tell Doubar.

Firouz: I'm with you.

(They go find Doubar)

(Mala and Sinbad are going through the maze)

Mala: What's wrong?

Sinbad: Something doesn't feel right here. (can't make out what he says here) Keep your hands away from the walls.

Mala: Why?

(An arm comes out of the wall at her and Sinbad chops it off)

Sinbad: That's why.

(They continue on their way)

Sinbad: Evil comes in many forms.

Mala: And you're an expert on it?

Sinbad: I've run across a lot of it.

Mala: And you fight it.

Sinbad: The best I can.

Mala: Why?

Sinbad: Someone has to.

(They see flames coming at them down the tunnel)

Mala: You could go back now. He can't touch you in the outside world.

Sinbad: Not a chance.

(Fireballs come at them; Sinbad bats them away with his sword)

Sinbad: I think we better get moving.

(Flames are coming at them)

(Sinbad and Mala stick to the wall as the flames pass them)

Sinbad: Are you okay?

Mala: Define okay.

Sinbad: Not charbroiled.

Mala: Then I'm fine. This woman you're after.

Sinbad: Maeve.

Mala: Your wife?

Sinbad: (chuckled) Hardly. (looks back at Mala) We care about each other. A lot. We went through some hard times. She…she went into hiding.

Mala: From the dark forces?

Sinbad: They seem to be growing stronger every day. She's supposed to be safe. I just want to make sure she is.

Mala: You really miss her, don't you?

Sinbad: Come on. We better get going.

(They walk through the maze)

Mala: Do you think we took a wrong turn?

Sinbad: Want to go back and find out?

(Scratch appears)

Scratch: I see you made it through my little maze (can't make out what he says here) (laughs)

Sinbad: What is your problem?

Scratch: You're my problem. And people like you. Do-gooders. How imbearably boring.

Mala: He seems to keep the likes of you in check.

Scratch: (can't make out what he says here) Your world is coming to my home in a handbasket. You can see it all around you. Greed, (can't make out what he says here), war, murder. (laughs) Why fight it? (can't make out what he says here) It's second nature to your kind.

Sinbad: And you don't need my help for anything.

Scratch: Patience is a virtue, Sinbad. I have none! I want the world! And I want it NOW! Help me and I'll reward you. Hinder me, I'll make your life a living hell!

Sinbad: Temper, temper, temper.

Scratch: (laughs) Now, go ahead. (can't make out what he says here) Amuse yourself. I have a previous engagement anyway.

Sinbad: Wait!

Scratch: Too late. No time to chat. I have to prepare my humble abode for guests.

Sinbad: What guests?

Scratch: (can't make out what he says here) Oh yeah! I forgot! You know them! They're your beloved crew. (can't make out what he says here) Gotta go! I'll give them your best.

Sinbad: If you harm any of them…

Scratch: What's the matter, hero? Doubting the power of good? Smart boy. Let's make a deal. Here now. Your soul, and you can choose who you want to save. Your gal pal in the dungeon, or your crew.

(Sinbad closes his eyes for a moment)

Scratch: Can't decide? Too bad! (laughs as he disappears)

Sinbad: No!

Mala: Sinbad.

Sinbad: What?!

Mala: Letting your emotions get away with you is not going to help anybody…including your crew.

Sinbad: You know nothing about me. Nothing! I lost my parents, my friends to this--

Mala: And you know less about me. And yourself. Think, Sinbad. Scratch wants you dead or working with him for a reason. You can stop him. You have the power. (The crew finds the building)

Doubar: You sure he's in here?

(Doubar goes to open the door)

Bryn: Doubar, wait! Don't open it. This hut…it's as if it's here but it's not.

Doubar: Firouz, do you recognize this? (points at the symbol)

Firouz: We've seen this before.

Doubar: Uh huh. And unless I miss my guess, goat-boy is behind all of this.

Bryn: Doubar!

Doubar: It's real enough, Bryn. I bashed my way into this devil's home once. I can do it again.

(Sinbad and Mala are talking)

Mala: You have the weapon. It's there. (puts hand up to Sinbad's chest) Your heart. It's strong. But to use it, you have to believe in it.

Sinbad: I can weather any storm.

Mala: Remember, heart, head, and then the sword.

Sinbad: After we find Maeve, we're going to go back for my crew. We'll beat Scratch at his own game. (turns to leave, then turns back to Mala) In a heartfelt way, of course.

(They leave)

(Doubar opens the door and the four of them fall into a web)

(Scratch laughs)

Scratch: Welcome to my parlour, said the spider to the flies. (laughs)

Doubar: What have you done to Sinbad?

Scratch: Nothing. Whatever happens to your brother will be of his own doing. (can't make out what he says here) Don't struggle so. (can't make out what he says here) You've come to the end of your adventures. (laughs)

Doubar: Bryn?

Bryn: I can't feel anything, Doubar. It's like I'm in limbo.

Scratch: Well put, little witch. Frankly, I'm surprised (can't make out what he says here) with these do-gooders. A girl with your pedigree?

Bryn: What's that supposed to mean?

Scratch: No matter. (can't make out what he says here) Now we begin our four course diet. (can't make out what he says here) Come and get it!

(A spider comes)

(Scratch laughs)

Scratch: And don't expect your Sinbad to save you. He's otherwise engaged! (laughs)

(Sinbad and Mala find Maeve in the dungeon)

Sinbad: (smiles) Maeve.

(Sinbad cuts her down)

Sinbad: Maeve.

(Maeve shows her face…she is really a monster)

Monster: Guess again.

Mala: It's a trap!

(Sinbad and the monster fight)

(Sinbad's bracelet shines)

(They continue to struggle)

Sinbad: Back to the main cavern!

Mala: The creature--

Sinbad: Will follow us. Maybe she'll be a distraction to buy me some time.

Mala: To save your crew?

Sinbad: To save my crew.

(The crew is struggling in the web)

Doubar: Go to…heaven!

Scratch: Oh, such profanity!

(The monster turns into a harpy)

Mala: Uh oh.

Sinbad: Oh yeah.

Mala: Sinbad?

Sinbad: She'll definitely be a distraction.

(The crew is still tangled in the web)

Doubar: We've gotten out of tighter scrapes.

Firouz: Point of fact, there was that situation in Basra, when--

Doubar: Firouz!

(can't make out what happens here)

(Sinbad enters)

Bryn: Sinbad!

Scratch: You ain't the hero!

(can't make out what happens here)

Scratch: No!

Sinbad: The game's over, devil. I've won.

Scratch: No. All you've done is delayed the outcome.

Mala: He won, Scratch. (can't make out what she says here)

Scratch: So what? Now he can watch me devour his crew. (can't make out what he says here)

Sinbad: Let them go. I'll give you my soul, freely and willingly.

Doubar: No, Sinbad! No!

Scratch: You would do that?

Sinbad: I would. Scratch: (can't make out what he says here) (can't make out what happens here) Mala: Take your crew and go, Sinbad.

Scratch: Such insolence.

Mala: His soul is worthless to you now, Scratch. He's willingly giving his life to save his friends. Self sacrifice is the ultimate show of friendship. Of love. His soul is pure. It cannot be corrupted. You've lost.

Scratch: (can't make out what he says here)

(can't make out what happens now)

Scratch: (laughs) (can't make out what he says here) Join me. Watch your friends die.

(The pit of fire turns to water)

Firouz: The pit!

Bryn: The lava! It's just water now.

Scratch: No! Water? (can't make out what he says here) (Mala rises from the pit of water)

Mala: Take your crew and go, Sinbad. You've earned your freedom.

Sinbad: But--

Mala: Go.

Scratch: Nobody's going anywhere!

Mala: He's proved himself strong, Scratch. No matter how hard (can't make out what she says here).

Scratch: I'll see you all in hell!

Mala: No, Scratch. (can't make out what she says here)

(can't make out what happens here)

Sinbad: Mala!

Doubar: (mouths) Mala?

Sinbad: Mala!

(can't make out what happens here)

(can't make out who says this): She's gone.

(The crew finds themselves in town)

Sinbad: Thank you, Mala. Thank you.

Doubar: Sinbad.

Sinbad: The tide's waiting. I think we need to set sail.

(The crew leaves; Doubar stays behind; Mala is standing behind him)

Mala: You did a great job of raising him, Doubar.

Doubar: You were a good teacher, mother.

(Doubar turns)

(They hug)

Doubar: (after pulling apart) Never thought I'd see you again. The ship went down. Never got to say goodbye.

Mala: I always had faith in you, Doubar. You've always been an old soul. But little Sinbad…never even got the chance to know me.

Doubar: He's had some rough times.

Mala: That's why I came back. Living or dead, once a mother, always a mother. He needed me.

Doubar: I have to go now. (pauses) Wish me luck.

Mala: (as she disappears) Always.

(Back on the Nomad, Sinbad is tying the longboat up, and Doubar walks over to him; Doubar gives Sinbad a bearhug)

Sinbad: I know you love me, but…

(They pull apart)

Sinbad: What was that for?

Doubar: For luck.

(Doubar walks away; Sinbad walks up to Bryn)

Bryn: You alright?

Sinbad: Yeah. I think I'm going to be just fine.

(Sinbad walks up to the bow and looks out over the ocean)

(Doubar walks up to him)

Sinbad: We're heading out.

Doubar: Where to?

Sinbad: Wherever the wind takes us.

Doubar: A lovely spot.

(Doubar leaves Sinbad)

(Sinbad looks out over the water)

THE END
