(Nomad is sailing, Sinbad is at the tillar, Doubar standing next to him.)

Doubar: We're almost there, Sinbad!

Sinbad: It'll be good to visit Sarabinne again.

Doubar: Lovely town. It'll be good to see Deanna again too, eh?

Sinbad: And how about that bar maid at the inn who always gives you free seconds?

Doubar: Why she completely slipped my mind.

Sinbad: I bet!

(They laugh. Sinbad hands the tillar to Doubar and walks away.)

Bryn: Who's this Deanna?

Doubar: Oh, an old friend of Sinbad's. Her father, Torran's the village elder. Right about now, they should be in the middle of their harvest festival. They pay homage to their protector - the great Gryphon.

Bryn: Ah, the beast that's part lion and part eagle.

Doubar: Aye, and all mean, if you try and interfere with its subjects.

Firouz: A lovely legend.

(Bryn begins to chuckle)

Doubar: Ah well, tell that to the pirates who tried to invade Sarabinne in the past. Their bleached bones are piled high on the beach.

(Bryn is laughing. Firouz looks over at her and she tries to stop and walks away.)

(The crew is walking into Sarabinne.)

Firouz: Ah, the festival's begun!

Doubar: Then let's go be festive!

(The pass the entrance to the village. There's a big statue of the Gryphon)

Bryn: The Gryphon...

Torran: Sinbad!

Doubar: Torran!

Torran: Doubar! It's been too long!

Sinbad: It always is between friends.

Torran: I've heard that you've had interesting encounters with witches and warlocks and monsters. Doubar doesn't seem to have missed a meal over it.

Doubar (laughing): Keeping up with Sinbad works up quite an appetite!

(Men are gathered outside the village in the woods)

Malack: Let's move it! Come on.

(They enter a cave. There's a sleeping Gryphon)

Villager: I drugged the meat she feasted upon. She'll be out for hours. Hours!

Malack: She better be. (whispers to his men) Get the net ready!

Villager: All these years searching for treasure and I find her. I said to myself, malack will love getting his hands on her. Oh, she's a beaty, isn't she. A beauty!

Malack: She'll do.

Villager: She's all I promised you, isn't she. Isn't she?! You'll make a fortune on her you will - a fortune!

(Back at the village)

Torran: You remember Deanna.

(A woman turns and approaches Sinbad. They kiss. Then she slaps him as the others try to hide their chuckles)

Deanna: That's for stnading me up in Basra. (walks away)

Sinbad (walking after her): I can explain... I think. If you give me a minute.

Deanna: Explain.

Sinbad: Look! There were these harpies - really!

(Deanna doesn't say anything, just keeps walking)

Sinbad: Are you listening?

Deanna: Not really... I bet they were all females, too.

(She walks away. The rest of the crew is chuckling.)

Torran: Come, you and your crewmates must join me at my table. The Gryphon has granted us an abundant harvest this year.

(Back at the Gryphon's cave, the Gryphon begins to stir.)

Malack (to his men): Go.

(Gryphon awakens and attacks the closest man. Malack stabs it with a spear.)

Malack: The drug on the spear oughtta keep her out for awhile. Get the net on her. Get her in the cage.

Villager: It... it wasn't my fault. She should have stayed asleep. It wasn't my fault!

Malack: Thanks to you, I have a wounded animal on my hands.

Villager: Gryphon's heal quickly, they do! They heal quickly. Now, about my payment...

Malack: Of course. You led me to the Gryphon. Betraying your people, your village, your history. And I promised you a just reward.

(He kills the villager)

Malack: That's a just reward for a snivelling traitor. (Turns to his men) Hurry up! I don't want anyone to know we're up here!

(Back at the village, Doubar, Firouz, Bryn, and Rongar are sitting at a table with Torran and some other villagers)

Doubar: There we were, just the 5 of us. Completely surrounded! Hundreds of harpies in the air, and all of a sudden, the skeleton wrriors just went to pieces.

(Bryn is staring at something)

Bryn: No...

Doubar: Bryn, you weren't even there.

Bryn (stands up): No! (walks away)

Doubar: Is she alright?

Firouz: She's in one of her trances.

(Doubar shakes his head and goes after her)

Firouz (to Rongar): Get Sinbad!

(Doubar walks over to Bryn. She's staring up at the sky)

Doubar: What is it Bryn?

(Back at the cave, the mother gryphon awakens.)
