Heritage Park is located in Johnson County Kansas. This is a multi-use park. There is a golf course, dog walking area and sports fields. The equestrian area is located in the South East corner of the park. There is a picnic shelter (#6) and restrooms very close by, we usually park our rig in the lot of shelter number six, occasionally it gets a little crowded and we overflow onto the grass. This area is made up of several interconnected fields. There is a cross country course, which is used twice a year for eventing. (I've only seen the remnants of the portable stalls and trailer parking flags) There is also a hydrant at the picnic shelter for watering the horses. The pictures were taken at Heritage Park and show the parking lot we use and two of the many fields we ride through.
Opinion:
The terrian is very easy on the horses and horse shoes are not needed. This is a good place to
condition the horses.
Personally we enjoy this park, it's only 5 minutes from our house (by trailer) and we have been
known to trailer over there after work.
Directions:
Enter the park off Pflumm Road south of 159th Street, the second park entrance is the best one,
otherwise you will drive through the sports fields entrance and then turn left. This park is
easily accessible from either I-35 or 69 highways in Kansas (both of which access I-435).
If you would like specific directions please email me and I would be glad to send you the information, just let me know where you are coming from.
