Thrill to the conclusion!

It's the end of the story! Thrill to the surprise ending, and how my life was turned around!

Chpater Four

About half of the mecha units had been destroyed. Most of the rest were in
various stages of damage, and those that were still able were retreating. Almost
all of the tanks had been destroyed, but several still funtioned. The TKR
vehicles swerved and dodged fire that came their way, and returned fire with
their own missiles and lasers. Archer was thoroughly enjoying himself. "We'll
have to do this more often!" he shouted to omniknight. Omni groaned.
Suddenly, there was an enormous explosion behind them. "What the hell was
that?" Archer shouted. Omni's screen came on, showing the Attack Beast and the
lone Arsenal unit. Archer noticed that Beast's left rear wheel had taken a
grazing hit, blowing the wheel and part of the truck's heavy frame completely
off. He turned Omni's wheel. There might still be time...
Duke slumped unconscious in Beast's driver's seat. Beast shouted to him
repeatedly, but failed to wake him. He saw the mecha preparing to launch another
missile at them, and opened fire with his remaining weapons. He was going to go
down fighting.
Elle and Erik watched the last of the retreating mecha depart, then turned
towards the showdown. Elle floored the acclerator.
Domino screeched to a halt beside Beast and opened fire with her lasers, but
they had lost almost all their charge, and bounced harmlessly off the mecha's
surface. Jenny threw open her door and ran over to Beast, shouting for Duke to
get out while there was still time. She pried the door open, and pulled the man
out. Unable to support his weight, she attempted to drag him away from the
truck.
Beast took another hit, knocking out his weapons. He watched helplessly as the
others sped towards them. Movement from above caught his attention. The giant
mecha was turning it's aim towards Jenny! Domino opened her door and shouted for
Jenny to run. Jenny, still attempting to drag Duke to safety, tripped. She
landed hard on the rocky ground, and struggled to crawl onward towards the car.
Omni surveyed the scene as he and Archer roared towards them. They wouldn't
arrive in time. There was only one chance. He activated his communications
equipment. Archer didn't notice when Omni broadcast himself out of the car.
The mecha paused. It was receiving a strange signal. Arsenal Thirteen examined
the signal, and was suddenly hit with a powerful surge of electricity directly
in it's Central Processing Unit.
Omni found himself in the mecha's CPU. He frantically looked around for
something that would stop it. Suddenly, he noticed a sealed off part of the
Central Processing Unit. It seemed to be the unit's autonomous control center.
Unable to find anything else in the brief seconds he had left, Omni blasted the
barrier with every scrap of power he had left.
Archer slammed on the brakes, placing the white Lamborgini in between his
fellow agents and the towering mecha. He stared up at the huge guns andwaited...
Arsenal XIII felt as though he had been rudely awakened from a sound sleep. He
was startled to find himself not in the familiar mecha factory warehouse, but in
the countryside. He was extremely startled to discover that he was preparing to
fire on several humans and their cars. He and the agents of TKR stared at each
other for several long minutes. Finally, Arsenal XIII spoke. "I am Arsenal unit
XIII, series Alpha. Where am I?" The FLAG agents stared at each other.
Omni was drawn back into his car body. Exhausted, he told Archer what he'd
done. Archer, in turn, told the others. Soon, they were engaged in conversation
with Arsenal XIII about H.A.L. 9000 and the other Arsenal units. Elle stepped up
the the six-story-high giant. "I'm Elle Holmes, head of TKR: SF." she said.
"Arsenal XIII, would you be interested in joining the Special Forces?"
Arsenal thought about it. H.A.L. and Smith needed to be stopped, and now that
he had free will, they would definitely consider him to be a threat. "I sure
would." he answered enthusiastically. "I've got a score to settle with those
two."
A short distance away, Archer walked over to Omni. "Nice work there, partner."
he said. Omni stared at the former assassin for a moment. "You did quite well
yourself." the car answered. "Very noble of you to put yourself at risk for the
team... sir."
Kyle walked over to the group. "I just called the chief." he announced.
"FLAG's thrilled that we've got one of the Arsenal units on our side." Elle
joined him. "He wants to assign Archer, Omni, and Arsenal to a special
assignment while the rest of us help out TKR." she said with a grin. "And we've
also gotten some possible new Special Forces candidates." Duke rubbed at his
aching head. "How's Beast?" he asked. "Itching for a rematch." Trek Sanders
answered. "That's one reason why the chief wants to send him and Archer and Omni
off on their own for a while."
Arsenal XIII gazed around at his new friends. It was beginning to feel like
home already.
