Sophie sits in sunnyside in front for Cash Crusaders where she sells her bead work. Cash Crusaders help her from time to time when she needs to store things overnight
and when she has to leave parcels for people to collect. She travels daily from KwaNdebele to Pretoria, but some weeks she works from home especially when she gets
big orders.
We went up to her house, 120 km from Pretoria - a place called Kameelrivier B. The and belongs to King Mahisha III and her house was built by herself. They do not own
the land, it belongs to the King, have only out-houses for toilets and prepay their electricity. Sophie Masango is 52 years old, has 8 kids ranging from 8 years old up to
32 years old. Her husband used to drive a taxi but the vehicle broke down and he is now looking for work. Her children also do "piece jobs" as and when it is available
but she mainly supports the family with her beadwork.
