Organizations and People Who Make Me Nervous
The Christian Broadcasting Network, Inc.: The hole Pat Robertson crawled into.
Pat Robertson Book Excerpt: Scary stuff.
Welcome to the Trinity Broadcasting Network : These guys don't really worry me except for the fact that they air the 700 Club and a really, REALLY bad Saturday night "teen" show.
Promise Keepers: The members don't necessarily worry me because I assume most of them have good and true intentions. Bill McCartney and his buddies, on the other hand, frighten me.
Christian Coalition: eep
The anti - Pat Robertson/Christian Coalition site: NOT a site/person I worry about. Go here to get the otherside's opinons on Pat and his agenda. Make sure you check out the quote section.

Power In The Hands Of Dangerous People
OK. Mr. Bill McCartney, the founder of the Promise Keepers, says he wants to help men to become better husbands, right? And I suppose he is the teacher (among his other buddies-but he's the big daddy). What I want to know is where does he get the idea that he himself is a good husband? In 1993, while he was busy with the Promise Keepers, his wife was losing an enormous amount of weight due to bulimia. The man didn't even NOTICE-he just thought she was on a strict diet. For a YEAR he did not see this.
I can not even begin to comprehend how men can trust this individual. I can see how they turn to this group for help and guidance-makes sense if you're Christian and also believe that the male is the leader of the household. But wouldn't you have a problem with following a leader who was so busy with his work life that he didn't even care to notice his wife was suffering?
It frustrates me that this movement follows a man who CLEARLY does not love women, though he claims he does. He does not see them as equals. Therefore, he does not love or respect them. It's really depressing that men flock to his teachings of backwardism.
BTW, I found this info in the January/February 1998 issue of MS. magazine.
