There is a stillness in the heart
A place where there is purity Where hurtful things can never reach And tears are known to never be Though scarred we are by life's travails This is a shelter that we seek The innocence the world can't touch Where no one is allowed to peek A place of peace within us all Where we are whole like once before A meadow with a crimson sun That's never felt the pangs of war A meadow pure with grasses green Where hearts take refuge from a storm Wildflowers grow along a stream No seasons changing, always warm I look about me while I'm here And realize I've no memory There never was a yesterday Just who I am and what I see As sun behind the mountains hides First stars appear to grace the night The stillness in my heart now peace And so much clearer is my sight |
