Training Chief Walter A. Fairbanks

Message from the Training Chief

The Cisco Fire Department's Training Division is led by Training Chief Walter A. Fairbanks who has been with the department for seven years. Currently all of our volunteers are participating in The Texas Commission on Fire Protection training program. Volunteers and career personnel are trained in basic fire suppression, vehicle extrication, high angle rescue, water rescue and recovery. We are a certified training facility through The Texas Commission on Fire Protection and The State Firemen's & Fire Marshals' Association. Chief Fairbanks also holds a Basic Firefighter Certificate and an Intermediate Instructor through The Texas Commision on Fire Protection, also a Level II instructor through the The State Firemen's & Fire Marshals' Association of Texas, and he is a commissioned basic instructor through The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

WHAT IS A PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTER?

The mere fact that you are a firefighter-paid, industrial, institutional, or volunteer-in no way makes you a professional. You become a professional firefighter only when you exhibit the knowledge, attitude, skills, and habits that have been honed to the highest degree by education, training, experience, and LOVE for your profession.

The example and conduct you display at the scene is, and will always be, the only yardstick by which your peers and the people you serve can judge you and the organization you represent.

The judgement will form the opinion of each and every person involved with you and your organization, and that judgment will precede you in the form of your reputation as a "PROFESSIONAL"
