Chapter 49
Meanwhile, 10 minutes had gone by and everyone was getting bored.
"Gosh, where the heck is he?" Kate wondered to herself. She came out
of her hiding spot and started walking to the house, then she met with
Zac. They just sat in the middle of the yard. "So, do you know where
Tay is?" Kate asked. "No," responded Zac, "Maybe he thought that he
was suppost to hid, so he did." "Well, do you know where he would
hide?" "He always did like that willow tree. Maybe he's back there."
"It doesn't hurt to check," Kate said. Zac and Kate got up, and
started walking back to the tree. "Kristin and Isaac are probably
still hiding," Kate said. "Probably," Zac said. "Shhh! Be quiet. If
he's here we could sneak up on him." They went under the branches just
in time to see Tay and Beth kiss. "Oh my," Zac exclaimed in a whisper.
(If that makes any sense to anyone!) "Uh, Zac? I think we better leave
now." "Yeah," Zac agreed. Kate and Zac ran to the side of the house
and sat down. They both started laughing hysterically at what they
had just observed. "That wasn't even that funny," Kate said. "I know.
Why are we laughing?" "I don't know. It's probably the sugar," Kate
suggested. "Sure! Blame everything on the sugar! But that's probably
it."
Kristin and Isaac had met up with each other and had tried looking for
everyone else, but they were having no such luck. "Well, we might as
well go inside," Isaac said. "Yeah, we probably should," Kristin
agreed. Isaac reached for the handle to find the door locked. "What is
it?" Kristin asked. "I think the doors locked." "You think the doors
locked?" Kristin asked slowly, not wanting to have to sleep outside.
"Ok, I know it's locked." "Do you think Zac, Kate, Beth, or Tay had
anything to do with it?" "No, they wouldn't do that. Would they?" "No,
I don't think so." "Well, let's go look for them!" "Ok." Isaac and
Kristin went around the side of the house to find Zac and Kate. "Oh
good, you guys weren't the ones to lock us out," Kristin said
relieved. "Locked out? What are you talking about?" Kate asked.
"Someone locked us out of the house," Isaac explained. "Oh that's
good!" Zac said, "Now tonight we'll freeze to death! Oh no!" "Zac,
settle down! I'm sure it's nothing big. I betcha it was just Tay and
Beth who locked us out," Isaac said. Zac and Kate looked at each
other. "No, I don't think it was them," said Kate. "Why not?" Kristin
asked, not knowing about what Zac and Kate had seen. "Oh, I just have a
feeling about this one," Kate said. "Oooo-kay," Kristin said. Just
then Tay and Beth walked out from under the tree towards them. "Gosh
guys! Where were you? I looked all over, but I couldn't find you
anywhere," Taylor said. "Oh, I'm sure you looked so hard!" Kate said
sarcastically. "How would you know?" Taylor asked. "Oh, I just have a
hunch about this stuff. "Oh, ok," Taylor said. "It's getting kinda
cold. Can we go inside now?" Beth asked. "Don't you think we'd be in
there already if we could get in?" Kristin asked. "What do you mean,
'if we could get in'," Taylor asked. "Duh! It means we're locked out,"
Zac said. "Oh that's probably not good," Beth said. "How did it
happen?" Taylor questioned. "How should we know?" Kristin said. "Well
we should try to amuse ourselves," Kate said. "How about we play some
soccer," Zac suggested, "I have a ball in the tree house." "Ok, go get
it. We're always up for playing soccer," Kate said as Zac ran off to
go and get the soccer ball.
