Chapter 51
The boys hadn't come downstairs yet, so they picked their spots in the
room. Beth on the love seat, Kate on the chair, and Kristin on the
couch. Then the boys came down. Zac was the first to come in. He sat
next to Beth on the love seat. Isaac was next to come in, determined
not to get the floor again. He sat on the other side of the couch.
A couple minutes later, Taylor walked in with a blanket. "Oh, that's
what took you so long! You had to grab your blankey!" Isaac said
laughing. "Shut up, it's cold." Taylor looked at the love seat and saw
Beth and Zac sitting on it. He pushed Zac on the shoulder and said,
"Go sit over there, now!" Zac got up, "Gosh, older brothers! Where am
I going to sit?" "On the floor," Isaac suggested. "Oh no. I'm not
going to sit on the floor," Zac said as he flung himself on the couch
between Kristin and Isaac. "This movie should be over by about 5:30,"
Kate told the boys. "Gosh, how long is it? What movie is it?" Taylor
asked. "It's about 3 hours long, and it's called The Sound of Music,"
Beth said. "Oh great, a chick flick," said an underenthusiastic Isaac.
"Hey, this is a good movie," defended Kristin. "Guys, let's just watch
the movie. Ok," Kate said as she pushed play. When the song Sixteen
Going on Seventeen came on, Kate started singing. She didn't know most
of the words. She was singing very loudly, and it was bugging
everyone. "Kate," Beth said, the yelled, "Kate!" But she couldn't be
heard by Kate. "Kathryn Marybeth! Shut up right now!" Beth yelled even
louder. "Gosh, I'm sorry. It wasn't my fault I like singing." "Well,it
wouldn't have been so bad," Beth said, "if you would have known the
words." "Ok, I won't sing anymore." The rest of the movie went along
without anymore interruptions.Taylor's blanket was now wrapped around
Beth too, and it looked like they we sound asleep. Beth had her head
on Taylor's shoulder. Isaac and Kristin we asleep as well. Zac and
kate were still awake when the movie ended. "Gosh, that Ralph. I
thought he was a nice guy! Liesel and him made a good couple," Zac
said. "You mean just like Tay and Beth?" Kate asked. "Hey yeah!" "Do
you think we should wake them?" Kate asked. "Now who cares they can
stay like that." "Hey, Zac. Do you know what time it is?" "Probably
way past my bedtime. No, it's 5:39 AM." "We should stay up and watch
the sun rise," Kate suggested. "That would be cool. I don't think I've
ever stayed up that long!" "You've never stayed up this early in the
morning?!" Kate said a little too loudly. It woke Beth up,and like a
chain reaction, Taylor woke up too."What time is it?" Beth asked
yawning. "It's 5:42 AM," Zac said. "We're going to watch the sun
rise. You can come if you want to," Kate explained. "Ok, why not. We
should probably take advantage of staying up this long while we can,"
Taylor said. "Let's just go get some sugar so we'll be able to stay
awake," Kate suggested. "Good idea. I'm always up for sugar," Zac
said, getting up and heading for the kitchen. "Wait, do you think we
should wake up Kristin and Ike?" Kate asked. "No, they look too
peaceful," Beth said. The four headed for the kitchen, Zac was first
to the sugar bowl. He grabbed a handful of it and started licking it
from his hand. "Zac, don't eat it all. Leave some for us. We need to
be hyper too," Taylor said reaching for the sugar. "Tay, give me the
sugar," Beth said. "Ok, open your mouth." Beth opened her mouth up
wide and Taylor threw the handful of sugar he had into her mouth. Kate
opened her mouth with just enough time for Taylor to throw sugar in
her mouth, too. Beth and Kate started laughing. "Hey Tay, Zac, I think
the sun is coming up," Kate said, just to give Beth enough time to
grab the Cool Whip out of the fridge, open it up, and get some on her
hand. "It's not coming up yet," Taylor said. "Sure it is, just keep
looking." "I don't know where you're look-" Taylor started, but Beth
threw Cool Whip at his mouth. "What did you do that for?" Taylor asked
as he licked his lips. "Because I felt like it," was Beth's reply.
"Oh that's a great reason." "I know.""Guys look at the floor. It's
cover in sugar. We better clean it up before we get into more trouble,"
said Kate. "That's probably a good idea," Taylor said as he opened the
broom closet and took out the broom and dust pan. He handed the broom
to Zac. "I don't want to sweep it up. Why can't you?" "Because I don't
want to, and I'm older than you. So get sweeping." But," argued Zac.
"Guys, stop fighting. I'll sweep," offered Kate. "Ok," Zac said as
he handed her the broom.
