Chapter 55
It was now quarter to eight, and Walker and Diana were both up. Kate
was the first on they saw, so Diana told her, "Kate, downstairs, in
the dining room now." "Yes, ma'am," she replied, as the three walked
down the stairs. Kate went through the kitchen, and motioned Zac to
follow. He put down the candy he was eating and went into the dining
room. Walker and Diana went into the living room where Isaac and
Kristin were still sleeping. Walker opened the curtains as wide as
they could go, letting in bright beams of sunlight. "Get up now!"
Walker said loudly. Isaac and Kristin both jumped up, not aware of
what was happening. "What's going on?" Kristin asked. "Don't ask
questions, just get into the dining room right now,"Diana said. Isaac
and Kristin obeyed, and walked into the dining room. "Where are Taylor
and Beth?" Diana asked. "I think they're in the garage," Kate
answered. Walker and Diana left to go get the two. "I hope they're not
kissing," Zac whispered to Kate. Isaac put his head on the table to
rest. "Oh, you think you're tired? At least you got some sleep. Guess
how much Zac and I got," Kate said to Isaac and Kristin. "How much?"
Kristin asked yawning. "Zero," Kate answered, "and we're not even
tired. Are we Zac?" Kate asked looking to Zac, only to see him, too,
have his head on the table. "Just kidding. No. Of course I'm not
tired. I'm wide awake. How could I be tired?" Zac asked hyperly. "Zac,
did you get into my Skittles?" Kate asked. "Maybe I did. Maybe I
didn't. Who knows. Can't tell ya." "Zac. Settle down you're giving me
a headache," Isaac said putting his head up for a second. Diana went
down the steps a little bit and yelled, "Down both of you get in the
dining room now!" Beth and Taylor quickly went up the stairs after
Diana. They all walked towards the dining room, only Diana went
upstairs. Taylor and Beth walked into the dining room, and Zac greeted
them, "Hey guys! Welcome to our punishment!" "Did we get our
punishment yet?" Taylor asked. "Nope, not yet," Kristin said.
"Kristin, gosh! I thought I had to get earplugs last night! You were
snoring so loud!" Beth said. "No I wasn't!" "Want to make a bet?
That's why I didn't get any sleep!" Kate said. "I didn't hear
anything," Isaac said raising his head again, only keeping
it up this time. "What? Were you deaf last night? 'Cause it was really
loud you could not sleep through that," Taylor said. "Well, I
obviously did." "Oh man, that's pathetic," Beth said to Isaac. "Those
concerts probably blew your hearing," Kate added. "So guys, what were
you doing in the garage?" Zac asked. "Yes, what were you doing?" Kate
added. "Oh, I see, we have two peeping Tom's in this house," Taylor
said. "Zac's. Peeping Zac's," Zac corrected. "Hey! I'm not a peeping
Zac! I'm a peeping Kate!" Kate said. "Ok, we have a peeping Zac and a
peeping Kate," Taylor said. "That's better!" Zac said. "Ok guys. I
have no idea what you're talking about," Kristin said. "Shh! Be quiet,
Mom and Dad are coming," Isaac said shushing them all. "I'm glad
you're all down here," Diana said not smiling."We have major
punishment to discuss with you for what you did last night," Walker
started," Don't think that all you're not going to be able to do is go
to any friends houses,go to the movies, go to the mall, or anything
on that line until the 12th of February." "You will clean this house
from top to bottom every week, including the bathrooms," Diana said
firmly. "Now go out and clean the barn," Walker said, extremely
serious. "Uh,Dad? We don't have-" "Don't question my authority young
man!" Walker said sternly to Taylor. "Ok, we'll go clean the barn,"
Taylor said as he got up and gestured for the other's to follow him.
Outside, they all looked at each other with questions. "What barn?"
Kate finally asked. "I don't know. As far as I know, we don't have
one. And I've lived here 17 years!" "Well what should we clean then?"
asked Zac. "How about we clean the tree house," suggested Kristin.
"There's nothing in the tree house how could we clean it?" asked Beth.
"I know it doesn't have much in it that's why we should clean it,"
Kristin said."Hey yeah then we wouldn't have to do anything!" Taylor
said. They all went up in the tree house. "I think you guys need to
make a bigger tree house for all six of us to fit in here
comfortably," Kate said. "Well we were littler then, and we used to
fit just fine," Taylor said. After a couple of hours of goofing around
outside they all decided to go inside. It was now 10:30a.m. When they
got inside they went into the kitchen to find something to eat.
Jessica and Avery were standing in front of the microwave watching
something in it. "What are you doing?" asked Taylor peering inside of
it. "Oh we're giving Barbie a tan," Avery answered as the buzzer went
off. "Are you sure you should be..." Taylor started, but was
interrupted by Zac. "Tay let the kids have their fun. Besides I think
Barbie needs a couple more minutes in the microwave," he said setting
the microwave for two more minutes. They all watched as Barbie went
around and around on the tray. The buzzer went off after the two
minutes. Zac reached in the microwave to get her, "Ouch! She's hot. I
think she burnt my hand," Zac said looking at his hand. "That's why
you use these," Kate said as she got out the oven mits, "Ok, everybody
out of my way. I have to rescue Barbie." Everybody got out of her way.
She reached in to grab the Barbie from the tray. "Uh guys the barbies
not coming off." "What, not coming off? Let me try," Beth said taking
the gloves from Kate. "Oh I guess she's not coming off," Beth said.
"Well take the tray out," Taylor said. Beth took the tray out and set
it on the counter. "Now what?" asked Jessica. "Well my autopsy shows
that Barbie was in the microwave too long, and she melted to the
tray," Zac told his little sisters. "How we gonna get her off? She's
my favorite Barbie," Avery said almost crying. "Don't worry Avie,
we'll get her off," comforted Beth. After some struggling they finally
did get her off of the tray. "See I told you we'd get her off," Beth
said to Avery. "I don't think we should try that again," said Jessica.
"Probably not," said Taylor. "Next time we'll put her in the oven!"
"NO!!!" everyone yelled at the same time. "I was just kidding,"
Jessica said laughing, "Come on, Avie, let's go upstairs." Both girls
went upstairs without saying anything else.
