Chapter 58

Everyone walked back to their rooms together. The first room was the girls'. Across the hall was Walker and Diana's. Then the room adjacent to the girls' room was the boys' room. The people in charge of the cards for each room was Walker, Diana, Kristin, Kate, Isaac, and Taylor. Kate pulled out her card and stuck it in the slot. She kept getting red lights. "Darn card! Let me in!" Kate yelled at it. "Watch out, let me try," Kristin said, sticking her card in the slot, and getting a green light right away. "Beginners luck," Kate said. The girls walked into their room to find the lights turned off, but it was still bright in the room, because of a light on outside the window. Beth turned on the all the lights, "Gosh, it's like daylight in here!" "How are we ever going to get any sleep with that light on?" Kristin asked. "Maybe if we shut the curtains, it won't shine through," Kate said as she walked over and shut the curtains. "Nope, didn't work," Beth said. "Maybe they're going to turn it off later," Kristin suggested. "I doubt it, it looks like that light is lighting up a sign," Kate said. "Oh this is going to be a fun night," Beth said sarcastically, "I'm going to take a shower now." "Ok," Kate said. While Beth was in the shower, Kate and Kristin watched tv. They found a really funny movie called, "Monty Pithon and the Holy Grail". After Beth got out of the shower, Kate went in. Then Kristin was brushing her hair, and Kate and Beth were watching tv, they heard a knock from the boys' room. Kate was closest to the door, so she answered it. "Aren't you suppost to be in bed?" she asked. "Aren't you too?" Taylor asked. "Well, techniqelly yes, but... but I didn't feel like it," Kate replied. "Well, now you know how we feel." "So what do you want?" Beth asked walking to the door. "Uh, I just wanted to see what you were doing," Taylor answered. Kristin can over to the doorway, looked in around the boys' room, then spoke up, "Where's Zac?" "Over there," Isaac said pointing in the direction of the closet. "Zac, what are you doing in there?" Beth asked as she walked over to the closet. "Just hanging with the clothes," Zac answered. "Ok Zac, you do that." Kate remembered about the shining light in the window and asked, "Could I turn the lights off for a second?" "Why on Earth would you want to do that?" Taylor asked. "I just want to see what your room looks like in the dark." "Uh, sure. Ok," Taylor said, getting up and turning the lights off. After a few seconds, he turned the lights back on. "Gosh, you don't have that light- I mean, do you want to trade rooms?" Kate asked. "Why do you want to trade rooms? They're exactly the same," Isaac said. "She just means that we like the door on the other side of the room. You know those left- handers," Beth said. "What about us left-handers?" Zac asked, getting out of the closet. "Nothing, they're just a little stupid!" "Beth! I'm standing right here!" Kate said. "Oh, sorry. What was I thinking?" Beth said sarcastically. "So will you guys please switch rooms with us?" Kate asked hopefully. "Please?" Beth begged. "Please?" Kristin echoed. "Ok, fine! Just quit whining!" Isaac said caving in. The girls' went back into their room and gathered all their things together. "Sucker," Kristin said. The boys came in with all their things, when the girls were still packing. "Can you go any slower?" Zac asked. "Yeah, probably, just watch," Beth said as she slowed down. "Come on you. Do you want to switch rooms or not?" Taylor asked. "Ok, we're done!" Kate said pushing Kristin and Beth through the doorway. "Goodnight guys," she said quickly and slammed the door, then locked it. "Ok, what was the hurry there?" Taylor asked Isaac and Zac. "I don't know, maybe they were tired," Zac suggested. The girls started laughing when they locked the door. About half an hour later, the girls were in their beds talking, and the boys had just turned the lights off. "Hey, what the heck's with the light?!" Isaac exclaimed. "I don't know, but it's really bright," Taylor said. "You guys are such dorks," Zac yelled through the wall. "Try to close your eyes," Beth yelled back. The boys started banging on the door. "Let us in!" Taylor yelled. "Go away! We're trying to sleep!" Kate yelled back. "No, let us in!" Zac yelled, "How can you do this to me? I'm younger than you guys! I'm just a little kid!" Kate opened the door, quickly pulled Zac in, the slammed and locked the door again. "Yes," Zac said, "Not only do I not have that light in my face, I get to spent the night with three girls." "Zac, you're scaring me. Do you want to go back in there?" Kristin asked pointing towards the door. "Sorry! Please! Don't make me go in there." "Ok, settle down Zac. We're not going to sent you back in there!" Kate said. "Could I have one of the beds?" Zac asked. "Nope, Kate and I get the beds," Beth answered. "Can I have the hide- a-bed?" Zac asked. "Nope, Kristin gets that. You get the floor," Kate replied. "Oh fine," Zac said disappointed. A while later they all went to bed.
