Chapter   Six

"Hurry up. Get out the keys to your car," VJ said to BJ.

"Why?" BJ asked.

"I, for one, want to know what it is they do," VJ said. "Don't you want to know what AJ does?"

"Well, yeah, but...."

"But nothing. Let's get into the car and take off."

BJ got her keys out of her purse and opened the doors. They jumped in and started the car.

"Why are we taking my car?" BJ asked, once they were on the move.

"They all know what my car looks like. They were all looking at us through the window when we got there, remember?"

"Yeah." BJ was quiet for a minute. "I can't believe we're doing this."

BJ and VJ followed the two cars and kept a good distance away. Finally, the Boys pulled up into a parking lot of a building. The girls turned off their lights and parked across the street. They watched the Boys get out of their cars and walked inside. After an hour of just sitting there, VJ and BJ were starting to get restless.

"What is taking them so long?" BJ complained.

"I don't know, but I'm starting to think that this was a bad idea," VJ said.

"Oh, you're just now realizing that," BJ said.

"Hold on a sec, they're coming," VJ said, softly.

They watched as the Boys walked out of a building with a dark-haired woman. They stood outside for a second, talking, then they all got into their cars and drove off. When everyone had left, VJ and BJ got out of the car and walked over to the building. They looked at the sign by the door.

" 'Wright Stuff Management'," VJ read aloud. "Management for what?"

"OH MY GOSH!"

"What?" VJ asked.

"VJ, I think you need to see this," BJ said from a window not too far away.

"What is it?" she asked, walking over to her friend.

"Look inside through the window and tell me what you see," BJ instructed.

VJ looked through the window. "All I see are posters...."

Then VJ's gazed stopped dead on one particular poster. There, on a poster, was Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson, AJ McLean, and Brian Littrell. At the bottom of the poster it said, "Backstreet Boys".

"Oh my gosh," VJ said. "I can't believe what I'm seeing."

"You can't believe it?!" BJ said. "I can't believe it!"

"Is it for real? Did I just see the the group of guys we were just with on a poster?"

"I think so. Come on. Let's get out of here before we get caught."

So, VJ and BJ ran back to the car and hopped in. BJ started the car and floored the gas. She practically had the car flying back to VJ's apartment. When they drove by Brian's place, they saw his jeep back in the parking lot. As soon as the car was parked, the two girls ran up to VJ's apartment.

"I'm am so utterly shocked, I can't think straight," VJ said.

"Who are the 'Backstreet Boys'?" BJ asked. "Are they a music group or something?"

"I guess," VJ said. "I've never heard of them."

"Do you think anyone has?"

"There's one way to find out."

"The internet," they said together.

They walked over to VJ's computer and got on the internet. VJ clicked on "Find" and then clicked on "Find it on the Web". She typed in "Backstreet Boys" and waited for the results.

"Oh my gosh," VJ breathed. "Look at all the websites dedicated to these guys."

"Go to one," BJ said.

VJ clicked on one and they were taken to a website in Spanish. They got out of that one and chose another one. This time it was in French. Finally they found one in English.

"Look at all the stuff it has on here," BJ said. "Biographies, pictures, news, rumors, sounds, lyrics, surveys...."

"I don't think they forgot anything," VJ said, sarcastically. "This is so weird."

"I wanna check out some of the rumors about them," BJ said.

"Alright." VJ clicked on "Rumors". " 'Kevin's married and has three kids'."

" 'Brian's engaged to some girl in Germany'," BJ read out loud.

" 'Nick has a girlfriend in France and she's pregnant with his child'? This is so stupid."

"Not as stupid as the next one. 'Backstreet Boys killed in a plane crash'."

"I guess we were talking to their ghosts then," VJ laughed. She got off the internet and turned off her computer. "These guys are obviously pretty famous all around the world."

"Then how come we've never heard of them?" BJ asked.

"I don't know," VJ said. "I guess we'll find out soon enough."

"I guess. Well, I better get home. I want to get at least some sleep before class tomorrow."

"Alright. I'll see ya in class. Goodnight."

"Goodnight." BJ grabbed her stuff and walked out the door.

"What a night this has been," VJ said to herself. She changed into some dark red, silk pajamas and climbed into bed. Her last thought was on Brian before she drifted off to sleep.
