Philadelphia is geographically located 39 degrees, 57 minutes north latitude and 75 degrees, 10 minutes west longitude. The City-County has 129.75 square miles. Population continued to grew until reaching its greatest level in 1950, at 2,071,605, and was ranked fourth largest of U.S. cities. In the 1990 census, Philadelphia had a population of about 1,500,000, and was ranked fifth in the U.S. Located in the Middle Atlantic section of the U.S., it is in the Eastern Standard Time zone.
