Multi-platinum recording artists the Goo Goo Dolls will perform two songs at Nickelodeon's 13th Annual Kids' Choice Awards this week in Los Ang eles. The event, taped at the Hollywood Bowl, will air Saturday, April 15th from 8-9:30 PM ET/PT. Master of Ceremonies, Rosie O'Donnell, will preside over the annual event where kids choose their favorites in entertainment by casting their votes at participating Burger King restaurants and at nick.com.
This past week the Goo Goo Dolls latest single, "Broadway," received over 100 adds at radio, propelling the group's sixth album, DIZZY UP THE GIRL, up 30 points from 155 to 125* on Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart. DIZZY UP THE GIRL has been on the album chart for 80 weeks and has sold over 3 million copies. Four singles off the album, "Iris," "Slide," "Dizzy" and "Black Balloon" have accumulated over a million plays at radio.*
The video treatment for "Broadway," written by comedian Bobcat Goldthwait, is now in rotation on MTV and VH-1. The clip is a parody on the rock star mystique where ordinary factory workers punch in their time clocks and join the make-over assembly line that transforms them into glamorous rock stars. This star imagery machine proves that rock stars are really just old balding fat men and women in really good makeup. The video was directed by Nancy Bardawil who also directed videos for "Iris," "Slide," "Dizzy," and "Black Balloon."
The Goo Goo Dolls can be seen on several television programs this month. First up, the band filmed a comedy skit last week while at the Tonight Show, which is set to air Thursday, April 13th. The skit involves an "audition" for the highly anticipated Diana Ross & the Supremes tour that required the band members to borrow some special items from NBC's wardrobe department!
Performances by the group can be seen on the popular television series CHARMED on Thursday, April 27th and on MAD-TV will air Saturday, April 29th. An upcoming appearance by band member Robby Takac on VH-1's The List, will be announced shortly.
Additional concert performances and television appearances by the Goo Goo Dolls will be announced as soon as they become available.
