I: How much better, do you recon, this album is, compared to Frogstomp ? I 
mean, can you give it a rading out of ten, like compare Frogstomp to it and 
tell me how much better it is as an album ?
D: Freak Show is five and Frogstomp is one. In terms of sound and songs.....
C: It's definitely better .
D: ....Yeah....we don't know how to compare it, but it's better than the 
first album. Just, 'cause we've got more experienced.
B: That's because we play better and the sounds are heaps better.
C: Yeah.
I: The songs are also better, they too, aren't they ?
B: Yeah, .....i think the songs are way better than the first album, they're 
more.ahm .....mature...
I: In terms of, okay that's been 2 years on, in 2 years time where, do you 
reckon, silverchair will be ? Can you give us some sort of indication now ?
C: Country-rock, i reckon.
D: Yeah, country and western.........huhuh
B: Maybe, you know, more toward the hiphop kinda, rave kinda music.
D: Yeah, rave,.... rave music . ( Daniel makes a rave- beat with his throat 
and everyone laughs )
I: Do you reckon rave will still be in by that stage or are you going to 
bring it back?
D: ( making that sound again..).....we're gonna bring it back. Yeah, we're 
gonna bring it back. We're the rave-revival-band, we're gonna bring back 
rave. It will be heaps good.
B: I think rave is gonna be around for a long time. All that kinda music.
D: ...it's gonna be the new sensation sweeping the nation .
I: Do you like any of it at all ?
D: Nah. (laughs)
C: But we're gonna play it !
I: What have you guys made of America ? Do you like being over there and 
playing ? 
D: Yeah, it's heaps good fun. Really....., when we're playing it's pretty 
much fun anywhere . So, it's just......yeah....i like it.
C: Americans are more psycho , they too. They sort of, don't really care if 
they punch someone in the crowd, or something, giving them a bloody nose, 
sort a thing.
I: They are even more violent than the Ausralian crowds ?
B: Americans are just ,like, psycho's, they run around in these, big circels 
and just, like, punch people......and there is always a leader .
D: In the middle, he's like, the king of the castle . In Australia just 
everyone's kinda an equal psycho, but in America there's leaders of the 
pack. huhuh
B: There's one, big, heavy dude walking around and going ( turns on a heavy, 
dark voice..) " Get outha the way .......I'll break you. "
I: In terms of how the perceptions, the journalists, the radio people, all 
that sort of stuff, record compagny people over in the States, do they have 
a lot of high hopes in what this album will achieve over there, or what it 
can achieve in the future ?
D: Hope not... ( everybody laughs)
I: I mean, do you have any sort of indication ,back from the american record 
company, what they're expecting this time around ?
B: Not really.
D: ......They said that they're expecting around............52 million, 
didn't they ?
B: Yeah, i think so.
C: Yeah
D: That's just in Australia...(everyone is laughing..again).everyone is 
gonna buy three.
I: ...Yeah, that's before the album will be released over there. 52 million 
here, then that's a chance.....
D: Yeah
