I never knew how much of an impact one individual came have on one community until this tragedy struck us here in his hometown. Many people have struggled with this loss and we need to remember them. It is hard to find a hero and when this happens it tends to leave us in disbelief. Thanks again and keep up the great work on the website. As a former Bluffian, I check in from time to time just to see the latest news and updates. It almost makes me feel like I'm sitting there on the street corner when I read the news.

Comments I am writing this to let people know that Dale Earnhart was a legend and it was a tragedy that he died. I lost my own legend yesterday. My hero, my daddy. This is the hardest thing I have ever endured in my life. He was not only my Daddy, but my best friend. I don't know how life is going to be without him. All I see is Dale Earnhart being plastered all over the place. His family must hate that. Give it a rest people let his family grieve in peace without having to see his face on tv day after day. As I grieve for my lost I too will grieve for the Earnhart family. I am just glad I don't have to have a constant reminder of the lost day after day being cramed down my throat. Comments We just wanted to compliment you on the tribute to Dale Earnhardt. While I wasn't a racing fan until I married Donald, I have learned to appreciate this demanding sport. We typically root for driver's other than Earnhardt, but you couldn't help but have respect for a man who accomplished what he did in his career. You are correct, heros and legends are few and far between, and whether you liked Earnhardt or not, you couldn't help but admire him and even laugh at his brashness. Blufwatch, your'e right, he is now one of our legends, and deservedly so.

Comments I was told about this web from a friend. It is a great little site. After reading all the views, I felt I had to make one on of my own. I guess my first concern is ANON. Is this person related to the Jazz Center co-owners? Or maybe one of them? I don't think the Lord is worried about the people leaving a bottle in a parking lot as much as the person destroying the beautiful trees and nature he created for false gains. It's not that we don't go to the Dollar Store & Fred's, but it is a big mud hole. Did Jesus not distroy the market place for making money off the name of God? Miss Anne must be doing flipflops. She would have never left it to Andrew if she had of know. She and Mr. Bibb loved this town the way it was. Many of us old timers do. Comments Checked out the big GUARD RAIL. impressive. Like some other things in this town. Just for the record, a message to the local Drug Dude, I'm not the one complaining to the law about you parking on the sidewalk and blocking the view of traffic on 70. I personally have enough patience to wait. Somewhere down the line I will have to pull out so far, I'm bound to get hit. Then we will talk. I also understand the "no parking on the sidewalk law" does not pertain to you. It seems the town authorities, for some reason, fear you. I know for a fact, the only thing said on Saturday, when someone almost got headoned, was "yes, alot of people are taking advantage of the law. No one does the 30 mile an hour speed limit either. I'm going to start sitting around with a box of tickets and just hand them out. Go figure. What the hell does the speed limit have to do with the fact you have to pull in the middle of 70 to see if anything is coming? Love you guys, have a great weekend.

The people i work with are good people.(but not the terminator).When we had that meeting in Nov.2000 with the people from HR, and they said that when they hired the temp's they are scraping the bottom of the barral.We all got mad because over haft the people in there started out as temp's.And when it was said that the temp's was not aloud at the christmas dinner, that was not right.I sent a paper around for whoever wish to put there name on it to let the big brass know just how we fell about the temp's.The temp's work just as hard as the rest of us do so i do not see why they could not come to any of the company doing's like the rest of us did. I know the sooner I can get out of there the better I will fell. DO NOT GET ME WRONG I DO LIKE WORKING WITH THE PEOPLE THERE AND WOULD MISS THEM. Maybe it was needed, but it actually was put up cause one guy complained some people drove through his yard. I think when there is a ditch or cliff someone might drive off in, then we might need to put one up, but to protect one persons yard? Who should have that expense? Drive by and see it at the south end of Eastside. You paid for it.

Comments Just wanted to update on the latest on Lisa. First I want to thank ALL of you so much for words of encouragment on here, in emails and in person. She appreciates more than I can say.
She got a call from her surgeon late this afternoon. It was good news considering. The spot they checked on her brain was an abnormal MS lesion. I guess this is better than other options. The hospital did treat her well, but having your brain drilled into did not look like fun, but she complained lots less than I would have, and was a way bunch braver. Not sure on how they will treat this just yet. Thanks for being concerned, everyone has been great and very supportive.

He is alive and doing quite well in Texas. I work with his daughter and I think it is a shame that a man has to leave town for the people to leave him and his family alone. Comments I just wanted to mention to "As da wire turns", that job never gave me any dignity or pride in the first place. Any pride or dignity that I have, was not gained through employment with NWP. All I had was 15 years of employment that didn't mean anything with the company management. Any goodwill that I or other employees once felt toward the company has been destroyed by their treatment of employees. The only good things that came from the NWP was and is the friends I have. Its about local Dickson Co. legends and ghosts. A buddy of mine works on the show and asked me to tell people about it. He has been on this website and has read the ghost stories and everything, and they are thinking of possibly doing a show about some of the stories in and around the Bluff. But the show really is good. So if your just flipping channels on Thursday nights at around 9 and 9:30 turn it over there and watch it, its pretty cool. Comments On December 10, 2000, I saw an unidentified flying object at about 500 feet altitude above Charlotte Highway at 9:15 PM. As I drove along I had a totally unobstructed view of this object about 1/2 a mile away. As I drove along the object appeared to be keeping pace with the speed of my car. The object then faded out of sight. The UFO had no wings, was silver pewter in color, and made no noise. After turning right onto CountyHouse Road I saw it again as it flew pacing my car at the exact same distance and altitude. I had a totally unobstructed view of the UFO as it flew low over a farmer's field. Again the object faded from my view, then three seconds later reappeared. I watched this object for another 12 seconds, until it faded from view for the last time. There also seemed to be an aura or hazy like disturbance in the air around the craft each time it faded from view. I did not want to call the police for fear of ridicule, but if anyone else saw this or something like it please post about it.

Comments People that do stupid things with the Rebel flag and Confederate heritage give the South a bad name. I put a Rebel flag patch on my jacket and wore it to school. I had so many people tell me that I was racist. It's the people that so the stupid things that make people think that way. The Confederate flag stands for my heritage and everything we fought for. Some will argue a war between this country was fought for slavery but when I fight for something I believe in, I deserve to be respected. Not necessary liked but respected. IF for some reason you decide to associate the South with something make sure it's not going to trample on that respect. Comments Looking at the " work world " of today, I'm sad, disgusted and MAD!!!!! It's not only the wire factory, talk to some of the folks that work for Pepsi and Coca Cola. The local coke plant did the same thing a few years back and ended up calling some of the "oldsters", asking them to come out of forced retirement because their " experience " was suddenly needed. I don't know of any that were willing. The person I know laughed and gave them a big dollar figure of what it would cost for his expert opinion. Pepsi is doing the same thing..... I feel sad for our kids just going into the work force. Gone are the days when a person could count on working for a company 25 yrs. and retiring. The average stay at a work place today is figured to be about 7 yrs. What kind of retirement can you build in 7 yrs.? Comments Hope everyone have a great weekend and enjoyed the big blow out. I've talked to several today and they pretty much agree...the tree was pretty. It was to cold to stand out and watch the parade for alot of folks so they stayed home. Of course I knew ANON would enjoy it, if a horse took a dump on his/her front porch it would be okay if they horse was from the "correct" part of town and increased business at the Dollar Store. I myself didn't go, I opted to go to Nashville and fight the crowds. I figured if the city didn't care enough about me and my business, I could stand to miss their parade. I know that sounds petty, but that just makes me fit in with the rest of the "city" leaders. As to Bluf's question of whether or not it made a difference in my business, yes it did. We did about a third of our normal Saturday night. ANON should be upset over that part since he/she/whatever is such a strong supporter of the businesses here in town. Comments hi again to all.i love this page.i have opinions on the parade and activities going on in the bluff.i know much of you wont aree but here goes. with the parade being at night you have many more opportunities to decorate floats with lights which is a christmas tradition you wouldnt be able to enjoy lights as much in the day. as for buisinesses being hurt thers not that much going on in the bluff after six except for the video store and cee bee and local gas stations.if you plan to rent a movie on saturday or get some ice cream go before six no big deal.besides the parade doesnt last that long anyway.area buisinesses should have a float in the parade to advertise and show yor christmas spirit. its our town lets make it beautiful day or night.. im not trying to piss no one off its my opinion and i like it. happy holidays to you all

Comments Miss Sissy I think you hit the nail on the head. I like christmassy things too, but the time for that parade is not too well thought out. It will hurt business downtown on a Saturday night. I wonder if thats why they are not going past the Ceebee store this year? If the crowds are as big as they are on the Sunday parades then they it will be packed tighter than a tick. I betcha lots of folks will be in Nashville shopping at that time on a Saturday night, and not too many will see the Mayor light his tree. Jenn watch out for ANON and his nice talk. Comments I think it's great that WB has finally decided to have a big to-do for Christmas. I do wonder about the fact that they are going to have the parade at 6:30 on a Saturday. Most of the business people that have been backing the "PARK" for years make their weekly profits on Friday and Saturday night. Have they made plans for parking and traffic? The traffic, I'm sure will be directed around town, as always. Really great for the downtown business! Why don't they think about the people trying to make a living in Downtown White Bluff? No one asked us about the parade route. It's great with the Breakfast with Santa and the Tree Lighting, but couldn't we have the parade a little earlier? Damn Danny, have you ever corresponded with the store owners that elected you? Friday and Saturday are our big days, do you care? Don't think so! Love ya Bluf & Lisa!! But, I'm still not sure about our leaders.

Comments Wanted to give a shout out to all you good folks in the Bluff. I, too, work for Da Wire-at the Corp office--NOT in HR. I agree with the person who wrote, how can a manufacturing facility eliminate the buyer's position?--we are all asking that one! (Guess what? Someone there is doing it!) I must admit, I was more than shocked when I heard the word of these ladies being let go. Believe me when I tell you, I wasn't the only one shocked by it. I have 11 years with the company and used to believe, if I worked hard and did a good job, the company would take care of me because I was taking care of the company. Needless to say, I no longer believe that. If people of this tenure with a company can have this happen to them (especially when considering the factors of being single moms, disablities, DOING THEIR JOB PROPERLY & DOING WELL AT IT, etc...), then I KNOW the same can happen to me at any moment. Comments Denise, I like to read those poems that Nicky writes too. Especially "At First Sight?". Of course I think he does everything great(predjuice) I first thought we were meant for each other when he told me he wanted us to be one of those kind of couples that make other people sick!
But he did not post my favorite poem, he wrote me a while back, It went like this
"Do I love you so? Will we never be apart? Well, the answer is, does a fat puppy fart?"
Maybe he will post this poem with the rest. His feet didn't start stinking until they turned orange!

Comments How is everyone? Chilly? There are times when that "river of fire" would feel good. Has something happened at the JAZZ center I missed. Last time I went by, looked like the only thing happening was a bunch of "redneck yahoos" had been wheelin out there. Has anyone heard anything on the Christmas parade? One of the kids in band said they were told it was going to be at 6:00 p.m. Hope that's wrong, we won't be able to see who we are waving at. The new lights are nice and pretty. Lisa, honey, those toes...smell and all are yours. Donna and I can only admire. We can't talk about it alot....it upsets you know who, (ANON). Comments For some unknown reason tonight, I ran a search on "White Bluff", as it was my home for the first 18 years of my life, and found your page. I must say, it is definetly THE BOMB. As much as I enjoy living where I am at now, there's an old saying that "you can take a boy out of the Bluff, but you can't take the Bluff out of a boy", and White Bluff will always be home to me. I grew up in what was known as "Highland Park" and now is called Central Avenue. The site is definetly a riot, and soon to be a bookmark for me. What I shock it was to look at the group pics, and see myself, in 8th grade, on the Web, in the picture titled "Beta Club", front row, first person on the left. I've regretfully only been to White Bluff twice in the last 15 years, and can't believe that it really hasn't changed that much. In response to what you and Mr Freels mentioned, please feel free to use this guestbook in the same manner as the old message board was used. This way I just do not have to devote as much time to editing and all that, and can watch the election returns from Florida. Which now have lasted longer than most marriages in the bluff.
