Engine wash and rinses can be simplified by the use of pump style pnuematic garden sprayers. They are durable, lightweight, easily maintained, transportable, multiple purpose and do not require external air as other sprayers do.
Materials
All materials including the sprayers were purchased locally at a Lowes Home Improvement store for approximately $50.00. Many types of sprayers are available, but we used Hudson Bugweiser 3 gallon non-relief sprayers. The non-relief sprayers proved better, since they provide the optimum pressure without relief venting. Female quick-release fittings were attached to the ends of each container hose to provide an automatic valve after the container is pressurized. The modified sprayer wand is interfaced in-between a male quick-release fitting and a particle seperator attachment elbow. This allows the hose to remain connected throughout the wash/rinse sequence. The remaining sprayer wand is utilized for aircraft washing.
